Ollie Purdy of Oklahoma City passed away on Sunday, August 12, 1979, at her home at the age of 98.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City on Tuesday August 14, 1979, at 10:00 am Graveside services were held at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma at 3:00 p.m. on August 14.
Mrs. Purdy was born near Bluff Dale, Texas, on July 22, 1881.
In 1895 she moved to Cheyenne Indian Territory with her family.
She lived in Western Oklahoma until she moved from
Clinton to Oklahoma City in 1952.
Mrs. Purdy married Joe Purdy on February 13, 1898. Both were pioneers in Indian
Territory. Mr. Purdy made the Cheyenne-Arapaho area reservation run of April 19,
1892, where he filed on a claim near Strong City in Indian Territory.
Mrs. Purdy was a homemaker and she was a member of the Gloria Sunday School Class First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include five daughters, Racie McCown and Alice
Boyer of Las Vegas; Rena Foster, Enid; Gayle Elliott, Freemont, California, and
Dorothy Mae Purdy of the home in Oklahoma City; three sons, Ray F. Purdy,
Dallas; Ralph Purdy and Glen Purdy, Las Vegas; also 22 grandchildren, 41 great
grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. A total of 98 relatives will
mourn the passing of Mrs. Ollie Purdy.
