Anna Mae Shadid , 86, died October 25, 2000 of natural causes. She was born in Krebs, Oklahoma of Lebanese-American parents. Oscar and Anna Kouri. During Worid War II she was a "Rosie the Riveter" working in an airplane plant in San Diego. After moving back to Oklahoma Annie worked many years in children's and ladies' retail sales. From 1966 to 1975 she owned and operated Ann's Dress Shop in Oklahoma City.

In 1975 she retired but spent the rest of her life doing what she loved to do most: cooking and feeding family, friends, and neighbors. She was a long-time member of St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church and was active in the Ladies Guild for many years, including cooking for the annual St. Elijah bake sale. As befitting her generation Annie found a way to maintain a positive outlook on life throughout times of adversity and illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1947.

She is survived by a sister, Rose Shadid , of California; daughter, Billie Lee Bayouth and her husband Richard, of Tulsa; son Dr. Tom Shadid and his wife Gloria, of Edmond, and granddaughter Kerri Alexis Shadid . She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. The Trisagion service will be at St. Elijah Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Sealing of the casket will be at St. Elijah Friday at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Fairlawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to "The Flowers That Do Not Wither Fund" at St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 15000 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City.
