Enid B. Smyth, affectionately known as "Granny", passed away July 23, 2006. She was born March 28, 1924 in Marmac, Oklahoma to George E. and Jessie B. Crooks.
Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jo Ella; sisters, Dora Ella Conder and Sydney Louise Sample; brothers, George Gordon and George Everett Crooks; and niece, Sandra Louise Atkison.
Granny is survived by her daughter and best friend, Marva Hale; grandsons, Michael Hale, Mitchell Hale and wife, Kathy; great-grandchildren, Shannon Hale, Brent and Kevin Bullard; niece, Delpha Dea Whitlow and husband, Kelley; great-niece, Jayme Sue Warner and children, Catherine and Hunter Cox; and dear friend of 52 years, Emily Greer-Morrison of Las Vegas, Nevada. Granny was a very friendly, compassionate and loving person. Her life was one of service to others and it was her passion to help those in need. After retiring from DHS in April, 1986 she devoted her life to caring for family members and eventually worked for Shepherd Manor Retirement Center. In her final years Granny talked with her beautiful smile and sparkling blue eye. Her greatest joy was to share her love and to be loved. Granny will remain in our hearts and memories forever. Granny loved her caregivers at Lackey Manor Nursing Home and Good Shepherd Hospice. Our family would like to thank each and everyone who touched her life with love, compassion and kindness.
Memorial services will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2006 in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with committal following in
Resthaven Memory
Gardens.
