S. R. "Ray" Sneed born December 23, 1927 near Wilson, Oklahoma, passed away May 20, 1993.
He was a 1945 graduate of Classen High School in Oklahoma City and of the University of Oklahoma. Ray served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and retired from Oklahoma Gas & Electric in 1987 after 39 years of service. In the course of his career, he worked in Oklahoma City, Ardmore, Oklahoma and Fort Smith, Arkansas. After retirement, he was active in OG&E Trailblazers retirement organization and in teaching electrical safety to elementary students throughout the Oklahoma City area. Favorite activities included bowling, golf, fishing and travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Effie Smith, sister, Betty Phyrn Sneed and brother, Virgil Ray Sneed. He married Bobbie Jean Griffith on January 5, 1951 and had four children. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie; son, Kenneth Ray Sneed of Midland, Texas; daughter, Janet Gayle Chaney of Ardmore, Oklahoma; daughter, Karol Phyrn Johnson of Hobbs, New Mexico; son, Jon Alan Sneed of Yukon, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and many lifelong friends.
Services will be at Hahn-Cook Funeral Home, Monday, May 24, 1993 at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Rosehill Cemetery following the service. He was a loving, generous husband and father, who taught his children how to live and love. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
