JOINT SERVICES WILL BE HELD FOR PIONEERS
Shock of Wife's Passing Is Too Much for Father.
Wallace Swank, 85-year old father Of
F[letcher]. B, Swank. former
fifth district congressman. died of shock In Norman Monday
night. Seven hours after the death or his wife. Mrs., Malinda
Swank. believed to be between 90 and 100 years old.
Mrs., Swank. who throughout her life refused to tell, her age
even to immediate members of the family, died about 2 pm of the
cornp1ictions of age. So great was the shock to Swank, ill for
two years. he died about. 9 p m.
Both pioneer Oklahomans, the couple married July 3. 1874, in
Iowa where they went from their native Ohio. They came to Beef
Creek, Chickasaw nation, Indian Territory, in 1888.
Mrs. Swank was active for years in the Rebekah lodge and was a
past noble grand matron, She was a life member of the Order of
the Eastern Star. Mr. and Mrs., Swank were the grandparents of
A. J. Moor, ward two councilman, whose mother is Mrs., M. B.
Moore. Nicoma park.
Other survivors are a son of Mrs. Swank by a pervious
marriage, T. H. Sampson, Tulsa. and another son of the couple,
Floyd Swank, Norman. Double funeral services were planned for
the couple Wednesday afternoon at Norman where they will be
buried.
