Services for Edwin Thayer, 87, pioneer Choctaw farmer, will be
at 2 pm Saturday in the Hahn Cook funeral chapel, with burial in
the Spencer cemetery.
He died at his home Friday after being in failing health for
several months.
A native of Indianapolis, Ind., Thayer came to Oklahoma in 1889,
homesteading on his farm eight miled east of Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his wife, Julia, to whom he was married 60
years; his son, Charlie Thayer, 701 Sooner road; and two
daughters living in the city, Mrs Clyde Hammon, 723 SW 29; and
Mrs Clifton Wenner, 1316 Harmon, Midwest City.
There are also four other daughters, Mrs Paul Ware, Clinton; Mrs
John Dotson, Broken Arrow; Mrs Mamie Clifford, Lowell, Ark; and
Mrs Anna Boggs, Los Angeles; 14 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs.
Julia Thayer, 79, died Saturday in Capitol Hill general hospital
after an extended illness. Services will be announced by
Hahn-Cook funeral home.
Mrs. Thayer was a native of Nixa, Mo.
but had lived in Oklahoma 60 years. She was a member of Soldier
Creek home demonstration club.
Surviving are five daughters, Mamie
Clifford, Lowell, Ark, Mrs. Paul Ware, Quinton; Mrs. Clyde
Hammon, 854 SW 25; Mrs. Clifton Wenner, 441 SE 46, and Mrs. John
Dotson, Tulsa; one son, Charlie Thayer, 701 Sooner road; a
step-daughter, Mrs. Anna Boggs, of Paramount, Calif., 11
grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
