Alexander Kay Thomas , 63, of Oklahoma City, loving husband,
doting father and proud grandfather passed away Tuesday,
December 16, 2003 at Deaconess Hospital where all three of his
children were born. He is survived by Georganne Thomas , wife of
thirty five years. Survivors include daughter Amy Bixler and
husband Dan of Oklahoma City, son Keith Thomas and fiancee
Jennifer Eshleman of Austin, Texas, daughter Andrea Skelton and
husband T.J. Piedmont; grandchildren William Derek Bixler and
Coleman Alexander Bixler; brother Ed Thomas and wife Jennie;
brother in law Darryl Nuckols and wife Cindy of Yukon, Oklahoma;
nephew Ed Thomas , and nieces Nicole Thomas , Danielle Smith,
Natalie Tennent and Brennon Nuckols. Alex was also blessed with
a multitude of friends. Alex was born September 1, 1940 in
Oklahoma City. He graduated from Classen High School in 1959
where he excelled in many sports with a special talent for
baseball as a slugging first baseman. Alex worked for the
Oklahoma Employment Security Commission for thirty eight years,
retiring in October of 2002. He was active at Metropolitan
Baptist Church for thirty six years working with children in
Boy's Brigade, Awana, Sunday School and coaching High School
church league basketball. For the past twenty years, Alex
enjoyed being the statistician for the Putnam City High School
Basketball team. Alex will be remembered for his wonderful sense
of humor and the booming, jovial laughter that accompanied it.
He was an impassioned sports fan and a loyal friend. Our heavy
hearts are lightened by the knowledge that Alex has gone to meet
his Lord and Savior. Services 2:00 p.m. Thursday Dec. 18th at
Metropolitan Baptist Church with burial to follow at
Fairlawn Cemetery.
