Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Just 2 days into the New Year, the Lord called our sweetheart
home. Mary, loving mother, grandmother "Mema" and
friend, died Jan. 2, 2005 at the age of 95. She was born Mary
Helen McAnany on 12/4/1909 in Kansas City, MO.
She married Max Thomas on 2/12/1930 and settled in OKC. She
was a homemaker until Max was disabled by a stroke. She then
worked as Executive Director of Okla. County Welfare Board,
where she retired. To know her was to love her; she welcomed
everyone into her heart and home. When she talked to you, you
were "honey". And if you were lucky, she would take
you to play bingo with her. She was a member of St. Charles
Borromeo Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max, her brother,
Phil McAnany, her son-in-law John Spivey, and her son, Jack, who
was killed in the Korean War. She is survived by 2 daughters,
Mary Ann Merriman and husband Bob of OKC, and Nadine Spivey of
OKC; 6 grandchildren - Tally Lobdell of Dallas, Mindy Ruehmann
of Seattle, John Spivey of OKC, Cindy Stigall and husband Larry
of Boone, NC, Mary Bean of OKC, and Patty Bonura of OKC; and 10
great grandchildren. Godspeed Mema.
We miss you terribly and always will. In lieu of flowers,
please send donations to The American Cancer Society or The
Salvation Army. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00
a.m., Thursday, January 6, 2005, at St. Charles Borromeo
Catholic Church, OKC, with interment following at Resurrection
Memorial Cemetery, OKC.
