Mrs. Trudgeon Pioneer State Resident, Dies

Mrs. Mellany P. Trudgeon, 80, pioneer state woman, died Tuesday at her home, 1004 NW 19. She had been ill 2 1/2 years and recently contracted double pneumonia.

With her husband, the late H. H. P. Trudgeon, she came to Oklahoma in 1889 and settled in Purcell after the land opening. Her husband managed the first grain elevator in that part of Indian Territory. Later he organized banking and lumber industries throughout the state.

Mrs. Trudgeon was active in organizing the Motherhood Culture club. She assisted in the organization of the Oklahoma Writers' club and was active in Episcopal church affairs....

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fred P. McKown, Colorado Springs, and Mrs. Turner Wilson, Jr., Santa Monica, Calif.; three sons, George, and Stocton, Purcell, and Francis, Denver; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Services will be 4 pm Thursday at the Street and Draper funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill.
