ROBERT LEE VAUGHAN, 88, retired finance manager, passed away Thursday morning, February 22, 2001at Memorial Medical Center.

Bob was born December 6, 1912 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Raymond Louis and Nina Lee Vaughan. He spent much of his life in Fort Worth, Texas, where he graduated in 1931 from W.C. Stripling High School (now Arlington Heights). He was a Star-Telegram all-City end that year and continued playing football at North Texas Agricultural College (now University of Texas at Arlington).

A World War II veteran, Mr. Vaughan was a flight officer with the Air Transport Command and a pilot instructor in El Reno, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his wife Aline Stevenson whom he met and married in San Angelo Texas in 1946. They lived in E Paso and Pampa, Texas where Bob worked for Southwest Investment Company. He retired in 1984 in Las Cruces from his own car business.

Survivors include one son, Stephen W. Vaughan of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Lois Burchfield also of Arlington, Texas and Grayce Korkmas of Tyler, Texas; one brother, Scott Vaughan of San Antonio Texas. Other survivors include one brother-in-law, Charles "Steve" Stevenson and wife Doris of Houston, Texas; one sister-in-law Jackie Floyd of San Angelo, Texas; a special family friend, Heather Hawkins also of Arlington, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all whom loved him very much.

At Mr. Vaughan's request cremation has taken place and inurnment of cremains will be held Monday, February 26, 2001 at 2 PM in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho with Chaplain Ray Bonar officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Marine Corps League El Perro Diablo Detachment.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
