Clay Whitehead, 66, passed away at MWC Hospital July 21, 2004. He was born Dec. 20, 1937 at Oak Hill, OK, later moving to South OKC, attending school at Jackson Jr. High and Capitol Hill High School. He worked at Western Electric Co. for 25 years from the early opening of the plant. At an early age, he found a love and passion for horses. First for roping competition, but he found his real place in cutting horse competition winning countless trophies and ribbons. His great pride was when he won his saddle for the 1973 W.O.C.H.A. 500 Novice Champion with his beloved quarter horse Hobo. The life he loved was cut short much to soon and to young by Multiple Sclerosis, a terrible debilitating disease that had complications that took his life after 23 years of suffering.
Clay married Dorothy Sprinkles in 1966, moving to Nicoma Park in 1969. He is also survived by their children Alicia Rowland and Parker Whitehead, his daughters DeLania and Faith, 8 grandchildren including his pride and joy grandson Dakota, and granddaughters Raegen & Grayson, 2 sisters Margie & Frances, and brother Charles.
He was preceded in death by Gods tiny angel granddaughter Morgan Elizabeth in 1998, parents Virgil & Lizzie Whitehead, and brother Lloyd.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday July 27 at Barnes & Johnson FH Chapel in MWC. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, OK. Much appreciation to the wonderful care goes to the MWC Hospital EM Dept. and the ICU staff. Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home 1820 S. Douglas Blvd Midwest City 733-2991.
