April 13, 1931 p17Funeral services for
Jess Holder, 28 years old, former night watchman at the Union Soldiers'
home, who was shot by Neal Huston, special deputy sheriff at the home,
in a fight therein Thursday night, were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday
afternoon in Spencer. Burial was in
Spencer cemetery. Hahn
funeral home was in charge.
Holder was shot after he allegedly slashed
Huston on the check with a razor. Three fights in which Holder is said
to have participated proceeded the shooting. Lewis Morris, county
attorney, said his office would continue investigation of the affair
Monday. Holder died Saturday in University Hospital.
