JONES On February 7, 2001 Orla Lea Jones gave up her long struggle with
loneliness and died peacefully in her sleep in Midwest City Regional
Hospital. A devout Christian, Orla Lea embraced her spiritual beliefs
throughout her long and full life. She was a kind and gentle woman,
without pretense. She was warm, caring, selfless, and genuine and saw
only the best in others. Truly, all who knew her loved her. Orla Lea 's
one true love, one of the great love stories, stands as an example of
the infinite power of love. Committed and complete. Her love and
marriage of over forty years to her husband, Tommy, was abruptly
interrupted by his unexpected and premature death. In the more than
twenty years since, not one day passed without her remembering and
cherishing him.
Her surviving family will try to live up to this example. Born September
15, 1913 in Okay, Oklahoma, Orla Lea was a long-time resident of the
Midwest City area. Her husband, Thomas B. Jones , whom she met while a
student at Seminole High School, and her sister, Lorraine Valentine,
preceded her in death.
Her two sons Robert and Thomas and
their families; her brothers, Jack and C.E. Briery and their families,
Lorraine's family and her sister, Velva Rogers, survive her. She leaves
a void behind. Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM February 17 at
Resthaven.
