February 22, 2006, p19Dorothy Ann South Spence was born to J.D. (Jack)
and Ann South on January 11, 1922 in Comanche, Okla. They moved to
Oklahoma City in 1924.
Dorothy passed away peacefully at home on
February 20, 2006. She attended Linwood Grade School, Taft Jr. High
School, and the old Classen High School, where she was selected as the
Outstanding Girl Athlete for her graduating year of 1940. Dorothy moved
to Wahington D.C. in 1941 and returned to Oklahoma City in 1942, when
she and Donald B. Spence married. Their first child, Don Jr. was born in
1943, and their second child, Dana, was born in 1949. Don Jr. has two
children Denise of Dallas, TX and Landon of Edmond, OK. Denise has one
daughter Lexi, and Landon and his wife Kelli have two children Tanner
and Rilee. Dorothy belonged to the 12th and Drexel Church of Christ and
Second Presbyterian Church. She worked at Tinker Field, the Clarence L.
Boyd Co. and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1976.
Dorothy and Don and their children enjoyed their lake homes on Lake
Eufala and Lake Texoma for many years.
Graveside services will be held
Wednesday, February 22, 2005 at 2:00 PM at
Kolb Cemetery in Midwest
City, Oklahoma.
