Retired Major Wallace
Glen Reid of Midwest City died May 3 at the Veterans Center in
Norman. Wally was born in Oklahoma City on Dec. 22, 1921.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and his parents
Eugene and Inez. He graduated from Classen High School and Oklahoma
State University. He served his country as an Air Force pilot and
was a decorated veteran. He flew A20 and A26 Aircraft in Europe
during WWII with the 409th Bombardment group and after the war
piloted helicopters in Alaska. After his military service he worked
civil service as a computer programmer at Tinker, AFB. Wally was an
avid traveler, venturing throughout the world, often preferring off
the beaten path destinations. He enjoyed music, the outdoors,
fishing and reading and was a member of the Daedalians, Noah Club
and the Masons. Wally was known for his sense of humor, green thumb
and respect for the environment.
Wally is survived by his sister, Lois Jean Osborne and husband,
Harold, three sons, Rod Reid and wife, Susan of Ashland OR, Gary
Reid and wife, Kathy of Golden, CO, Glen Reid of Addison, TX,
daughter, Gina Dabney and husband, David of Edmond, OK, 3
grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 P. M., Friday, May 7, 2004 at the
Paylor Funeral Home Chapel. He will be dearly missed by his family
and friends. Burial at
