A 16-year-old boy was
killed Friday afternoon after another motorist fired shots into his
car. Shawn Weaver was driving in the 5200 block of Brookdale Drive in
southeast Oklahoma City when a car pulled up next to him about 4
p.m. and fired several shots at the youth, Sgt. Roger Wagnon said.
At least one bullet hit Weaver in the left side, Wagnon said. The
Oklahoma City youth then drove several blocks to a convenience
store, Wagnon said. Patrons in the store called for help.
The youth was taken to a local hospital, where he died. A
16-year-old passenger in the car was not injured.
Burial at
Arlington Memory Gardens
October
20, 1995
A funeral for a suspected gang member was disrupted
Thursday after a fight broke out among some of those attending. The
funeral for Shawn Weaver , 17, was being held at Arlington Memory
Gardens in Midwest City about 2 p.m. Thursday when a man showed up
with a gun, Midwest City police Sgt. Bill Howard said.
Some of those attending thought the man was involved
in Weaver 's death, Howard said. "The people attending the funeral
disarmed him and roughed him up a little bit," Howard said. No shots
were fired, but police were questioning several involved in the
disturbance. Weaver , of Oklahoma City, was also a suspect in the
shooting death of a salvage yard worker.
Alvin Walker, 63, was found dead Oct. 7 at R&T Salvage at NE 10 and
Sunny lane Road, where he worked as a night watchman, authorities
said earlier. Police said Walker was killed during a robbery at the
salvage yard. Two suspects have been arrested, and police said they
were searching for Weaver as the third suspect.
Before he could be arrested, however, Weaver was
killed on Oct. 15 in an unrelated drive-by shooting. Terrance
Demario Britt, 20, of Oklahoma City was arrested Wednesday on a
murder complaint in connection with Weaver 's death.
