Ray Barber , 85 of Del City, went to be with Christ February 9, 2008. He was born January 28, 1923 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Naomi Ruth and Daniel Webster Barber . Ray received a BA degree from Trinity University and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Seminary. He served the Lord Jesus faithfully as minister of music in several Baptist churches in Texas including Paris, San Antonio, Nederland, and Waco. He then served in Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken, South Carolina from 1972 until his retirement in 1988.

After retirement Ray moved to Midwest City to be with his family. He served 16 years as a volunteer at Midwest City Regional Hospital and was involved in the Adult Choir, Bell Choir, Literacy Mission for Internationals, and Joy Group at Meadowood Baptist Church. Ray was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Med Ruth Barber and Shirley Brettle. Ray is survived by his wife Phyllis, of the home; daughter Linda Rutherford & husband Bob of Midwest City; son Brad & wife Norma of Bryan, Texas; and four grandchildren, Cathy and Jon Rutherford, and Sierra and Michael Barber . Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 at Meadowood Baptist Church with interment following at Kolb Cemetery.
