Orlando Gene Ginn was born Aug. 29, 1962 in Oklahoma City to
William O. Ginn Jr. and Carolyn Bouska-Ginn. He departed this
life on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at his home in Midwest City at
the age of 43 years, nine months and 19 days. On Aug. 28, 1981,
he married Aleta Jean Spurlock at First Missionary Baptist
Church, Midwest City. To this union were born a son, Michael
Andrew and a daughter, Stephanie Diane.
He was preceded in death by his
grandparents, W.O. Sr. and Lola Ginn.
He is survived by his wife, Aleta, of
the home; his son, Michael and his wife, Kara, of Oklahoma City;
and his daughter, Stephanie, of the home. He is also
survived by his parents, W.O. and Carolyn Ginn of Choctaw; a
brother, Marty Ginn of Choctaw; and sister, Kim Tabor of Midwest
City; a brother-in-law, Ronald Spurlock of Midwest City; and a
sister-in-law, Judy Forgey, of Tallahassee, Fla. Upon his death,
Orlando left behind many nephews, cousins and a host of friends,
that included co-workers, Christian brothers and sisters, both
in and outside of his own church. Orlando was employed by the
Oklahoma State Board of Regents For Higher Education in 1981. At
the time of his death, he was the director of Information
Systems and Chief Security Officer. Orlando had joined First
Missionary Baptist Church of Midwest City at the age of 6 or 7
and served faithfully for many years. However, on Jan. 3 of this
year, Orlando came to visit his pastor, emotionally distraught
and stated he had never been truly saved. After considerable
discussion and questioning, his pastor realized Orlando was
undoubtedly correct in his own assessment. They knelt in prayer
and Orlando accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior,
without hesitation or doubt. He immediately began telling his
friends, loved ones and anyone else who would listen about his
new found faith. He came before the church for scriptural
baptism and was baptized at Highland Park Baptist Church the
following Sunday morning, Jan. 8, 2006. He worked steadily and
diligently in the church since that date. He was the church
treasurer, but also assisted in any capacity needed within the
church. He was truly a great asset to Highland Park and will be
sorely missed.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m.
Thursday, June 22, 2006 at Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home
Chapel with burial to follow at
Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah.
