OKLAHOMA CITY
Jody Robertson Farha, 86, died July 28, 2011, at Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, she was born January 13, 1925, in Britton where she went to Britton Elementary and Britton High School. Typical of the Greatest Generation, Jody 's life was shaped by the Great Depression and World War II. From those times, and the influence of her remarkable parents, Jody learned generosity, resilience, humility and kindness. Always considered a real "looker," her outward beauty was simply a reflection of the beautiful person she was inside.
In 1948 she married Melvin Roscoe "Roxy" Robertson, a WWII Air Corps pilot who ultimately spent his career in aviation. Married for 46 years, together they had two daughters, Roxanne and Nancy. After his death in 1994, Jody was fortunate to have a second love in her life when she married George Farha in 2001. He died in 2009.
Jody was preceded in death by Roxy and George; her parents, Howard and Dovie Johnston ; and her younger brother, Steve Johnston .
She is survived by her sister, June "Happy Talk" Tallant of Harlingen, Texas; her brother, Stan Johnston of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Roxanne, and her husband, Rod Warner; her daughter, Nancy, and her life partner, Shelly Short; and four granddaughters, Sarah Welker and her husband Lee, Cary Anne Holton, Courtney Ellingson and her husband Jared, and Leslie Warner - all of Oklahoma City. She also had four great-grandchildren: Cal, Hallie Anne and Rex Welker; and Jack Ellingson. Jody was full of life and always up for fun and adventure. Those who knew her were charmed by her delightful sense of humor and the genuine sense of joy she carried with her every day. Ultimately, she left behind a loving and close family, and many long-lasting friendships.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 2, at 2:00 p.m., at St. John's Episcopal Church, her parish home of more than 60 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Martin Nature Park, the land that was once her home. Donations may be made payable to Friends of Martin Nature Park, 5000 W.
