Rites for James Melvin Bass, 64-year-old retired oilfield worker of route 2, Jones, are set for Friday, 2 pm, in the Capitol Hill funeral home chapel with interment at Memorial Park cemetery. Bass died Tuesday at his home after a heart attack. He was born in 1893 in Hill county, Texas, and came to Oklahoma about 1929, moving to the Oklahoma City area 12 years ago. He was a member of the Baptist church.

The family requests that no flowers be sent, and suggests instead friends contribute to the Oklahoma-Medical Research foundation heart fund. Bass is survived by his wife, Willie, of the home; three sons, Melvin, St. Paula, Calif.; J. M. jr., 4306 S Youngs, and Hoyt, 509 SW 28; four daughters, Mrs. Opal Hamrick, 1409%; NW 27; Mrs. Doris McBride, route 9; Mrs. Vivian Owens, 1509 S McKinley, and Mrs. Nadine Hill. 3600 S Glenn; two brothers. Bill, Oklahoma City, and Joe, Lawton; a sister, Mrs. Mary E. Owens. Lawton; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
