Thomas Ward Poore, 59, of 405 Atkinson Dr., a
developer and homebuilder in Midwest City, died
Saturday night in Wesley Hospital.
Services will be at 2 pm Monday in First Baptist
Church of Midwest City with burial in Arlington
Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by
Midwest City Funeral Home.
A native of Williston, Tenn., he was born May 20,
1901. He-came to the state in 1947, settling at
Midwest City where he has lived since. He was a
Mason,. Shriner, a member of the Lions Club and past
president of Home Builders Association of Oklahoma
City. From 1942 to 1947, Poore was affiliated with
the National Housing Association of Dallas. Poore is
the builder of the Planet Plaza development now
under construction on the Tinker Diagonal. He.
attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel, of the home; and
his stepmother Mrs. W. T. Poore, Williston, Tenn.

Jewel Irene Poore, age 79, of 405 Atkinson Dr.,
Midwest City, died Wednesday, Feb 17th. Services 10
am Saturday, Wickline United Methodist Church, with
interment in Arlington Memory Gardens. Directed by
Paylor Funeral Home. Born in Williston, Tennessee,
came to Midwest City in 1946 with her husband, the
late Tom Poore who was one of the original
developers of Midwest City Hospital, with over
10,000 hours of volunteer service since the door’s
opened in 1962. Past president of Study 1 and Lilac
United Garden Clubs. A faithful member of Wickline
United Methodist Church where she served in many
capacities. She watched the development of Oscar
Rose Junior College to which she had donated the
land. A member of Eastern Star and life member of
United Methodist Women. She was chosen Woman of the
Year by Midwest City Pilot Club in 1973.
She is survived by one brother Luther Holman of OKC.
Nieces Patti Watts and Susan Lewis both of OKC.
Nephew, Palmer Asford of Covington, Tenn.
