Brad Bailey Sun Dec 21 1997
Hi!  My name is Brad Bailey and I am the great grandson of Molsie Nee Hawkins. She was a Full Blood Chickasaw Indian who lived in the Ardmore, Oklahoma area. I am searching for anyone with the Hawkins surname who might be a distant relative.  My great grandmother also had a sister named Josie or Josephine.  I know of no descendants of Josie, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist.  I am including a link to my web page which gives a little more insight to the family line as we know it.  If you or someone you know with the Hawkins surname is of Chickasaw or Choctaw blood, please contact me.  You will find all the information I have at this time regarding the Hawkins Family at the bottom of my web page under the report referring to "?".  The question mark refers to the surname of my GGG Grandmother Mattahoya.

My Great Grandfather was George Franklin STEWART, b. April 1845 in Dent Co., MO.  He and his family went to Indian Territory circa 1884-1890.  I believe they frist settled in Stonewall or Lane, as a son, Thomas STEWART, was buried at Stonewall.  Then his wife, Mary Harvey PRIEST STEWART was buried at Lane.  George Franklin STEWART  was a Doctor in Ada and Stringtown, and is buried at Stringtown.  George had a brother Joshua D (Dawson) STEWART and a brother-in-law George H. (Harvey) PRIEST that came with him.  Joshua D. STEWART and some of his family is buried at Lightening Ridge Cemetery. George PRIEST was a school superintendent for several years. George and Joshua STEWART, both have descendants still living in that area. Perhaps George Priest does too.  I would love to correspond with people who relate to this family and exchange genealogical information with them. Since there seems to be no headstones for some of the people, I would be interested in Obits, etc. Happy Ancestor Hunting!! fax:  706-654-3962

I am searching for information on my grandfather John T. BAILEY. He and his wife, Lieu Alice BARRY, and their children, Ruby, Thomas, Marie, Pauline, Raymond and Roy lived in Ada, Ponotoc Co. from about 1915 to 1919. Raymond and Roy were born in Ponotoc county in 1916 and 1918 respectively. It is reported that he was a lawman, either the sheriff or under sheriff in 1917 for that area. The family lived in a home on the South Canadian river. They moved to LeFlore County sometimes before the 1920 Census. He was shot and killed in Leflore County in 1921. I would like to know if there are records available for the sheriff's department for Ponotoc County or the town of Ada for that era. Thanks for any help.

I'm seeking any information on Mary, John or Alice CLOUD, children of William Lafayette CLOUD, including birth, death, burial place and -- most importantly -- surviving descendants. They are descended from my great grandfather, William Lafayette Cloud (1851-1917) of Alabama to Austin Cty, TX to Center, I.T. and Konowa. John CLOUD was Seminole County Clerk and County Treasurer for many years -- possibly the first. I estimate his birthdate to be about 1881 and his business card as County Clerk shows him to be a young man, so he could have served as early as 1905 or so. I'm told he lived in Sasakwa and, besides being a politician, was a school teacher -- a John Cloud taught in Konowa up until the forties or fifties and I suspect it was him. Mary Cloud married a man named HOPGOOD and had children named Calvin HOPGOOD and Dick HOPGOOD. She later married George Raines. Alice Cloud married Bill SPAULDING and their children's names were Ruby Jewel SPAULDING, Sanford SPAULDING, and "Sis" SPAULDING. I have pictures of these people -- including John Cloud's business card as Seminole County Clerk -- and will be glad to share them with anyone who thinks they can help.

Researching THOMAS HOWARD HENDERSON and GEORGE D. MOORE families. Thomas H. Henderson and wife Margaret were living in Coalgate in 1910. Census states he was b. in TN., his parents b. in TN. Margaret b. IN. I did not find them in TN., in 1880. I was told they came to OK., from TN. George D. Moore and wife Amanda Smith, I found in Rhea CO., in 1880. I was told that the Henderson and Moore famileis came to OK at or near the same time. George and Amanda stated they were b. in NC., and their parients also. Anyone in OK researching these two families? What CO were the Hendersons from in TN and what CO were the Moors from in NC? They are my great grandparents. I was born in Coalgate and both families lived around there.

Looking for any information on a Charlie Overstreet and a Jane Bonds. They got married in 1896 in Center, OK, a few miles west of Ada, in Pontotoc County. According to family history, my Grandfather, Andrew Jackson Stephenson, and two girls, Jane and Jemima, may have been adopted by John and Rhoda Stephenson. My mother and a couple of aunts remember an "Uncle Charlie and Aunt Jane" visiting them often when they were children. No last name for Charley is known. Since Andrew and my Grandmother got married in Center OK in 1897, it is thought that the above marriage might be the marriage of the Jane that was apparently Andrew's sister. The Uncle Charlie and Aunt Jane were supposed to have been residents of Ada for many years. They were reported to have never had any children.
