Daniel L. Kuykendall, 88, Springfield, died August 10, 2006, in
his home surrounded by family. He was born July 14, 1918, in
Nashoba, Oklahoma. He served as a First Sergeant during the Second
World War. Following his time in service, he resided in California
with his wife Mary Louise and daughters, where he was employed by
Standard Oil, until moving his family to Missouri in 1964. After
moving to Missouri he worked at Fort Leonard Wood until his
retirement in 1979. They spent many years traveling and ultimately
made their home in Springfield, Missouri. Daniel loved fishing,
hunting and working in his garden. He took great pride in helping
his neighbors and family. Survivors include his wife, Louise; two
daughters, Jan and Eli Williams, Rogersville, Missouri, and Lynn
and Ronnie Atterberry, Plato, Mo.; four grandchildren, Cindy and
Scott Henslee, Jennifer Williams, Amber and Aaron Atterberry; four
great-grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren and Megan Henslee, and Taylor
Blackburn. He is also survived by one sister, Joyce and Buck Fox,
and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Daniel and Mamie Kuykendall; four brothers, Paul, Jeral,
Billy and Benney; and one sister, Opal Hamman. Visitation is 7 to
8 p.m. today, August 11 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E.
Seminole, Springfield, Missouri. Services will be Saturday, August
12 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest
Cemetery, Mountain Grove, Missouri, immediately following the
services. He will be greatly missed by his family and a host of
friends and neighbors. |
