When the school opened in about 1904, all of the community events took place at the school. The school was about 24 x 40 feet in size and located north west of the old Matt SHAW place and on SHAW land. On July 5, 1920 Hamburg or Shaw consolidated with five other small schools to form Midway. By 1915 it was known as Shaw School.
