Memorial services for Howard J. COX, Sr., 81, of Waldron, Ark., were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, under the direction of Martin Funeral Homes of Waldron. Mr. Cox died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Scott County. Survivors include three children, Sherry, Jessie and Diana Lyn; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bil, Jack and Harold. He was preceded in death by Katherine MONROE and Jessie "Pooh" COX III.
Funeral services for Buddy FLURRY, 70, of Roland, are being held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Muldrow. Burial is in Roland City Cemetery, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. FLURRY was born Feb. 18, 1936, in Fort Smith. He died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in a local hospital. Survivors include his wife, Daisy of the home; four daughters, Gina, Karen, Crystal and Stephanie; three sons, Kevin, Norman and Brian; one sister, Lois; one brother, Jamie; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jess Philip HONEYCUTT, 64, of Van Buren, Ark., are being held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with a Masonic service to follow. Burial is in Meeker New Hope Cemetery in Meeker, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. Mr. HONEYCUTT died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Short. Survivors include his wife, Nancy of the home; one daughter, Catherine; one son, Jess Marvin and his wife Mary Jo; one sister, Barbara Jane and her husband, Bob; mother-in-law, Mary COLNER; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Vivian HONEYCUTT and his father-in-law, Marvin COINER.
Memorial services for Bonnie KVIDERA, 74, of Westchester, Ill., formerly of Vian, was held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Chicago and another service will be held on Decoration Day at Box Cemetery in Blackgum. Mrs. KVIDERA was born July 17, 1931, in Broken Arrow, to Clifton A. YOUNG and Ethel E. COURTNEY. She died Friday, March 17, 2006, in Proniso Township, Ill. Survivors include her husband, James J. KVIDERA; her children, Shirley and Carl, and Michael, Mary Ann and Joe; her mother, Ethyl ROBERSON; sister, Judy; brothers, Bill and Wanda, Tom and Glenda; Albert and Glenda, and David and Jessie; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many precious nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and many friends and co-workers.

Burial was in Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. Mrs. MITCHELL was born Dec. 15, 1919, to Andrew Baacomb FERGUSON and Dovie K. (MONTGOMERY) FERGUSON in Long. She died Monday, March 27, 2006, in Van Buren. Survivors include one sister, Dema; one sister-in-law, Louise; 10 nieces; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, William MITCHELL, both parents, brothers, Max, Ted, Bill and Rex FERGUSON, sisters, Eva SULLIVAN, Ora SULLIVAN and Trix PADBERG.

SHEPARD, 80, of Sallisaw, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. SHEPARD was born Feb. 23, 1926, in Cortland, N.Y., to Herbert SHEPARD and Ella NORTHROP. He died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Vian. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Mildred SCOTT and Margaret JOHNS, one brother, Charlie SHEPARD, three sisters, Gladys COOK, Careta DUPREY and Arlene DEBOISE.

Mrs. YOUNG was born July 17, 1910, in Notchietown, to William COURTNEY and Lillie (WATSON) COURTNEY. She died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Fort Smith, Ark. She married Albert Clifton YOUNG, Sr., May 13, 1928, in Vian. He preceded her in death, July 27, 1971, in Fort Smith. She married her second husband Otis ROBERTSON, who preceded her in death, Oct. 8, 2002, in Sallisaw. Survivors include four sons, William Edward and Wanda, Albert Clifton and Glenda, Jr., and David Wayne and Jessie, and Thomas Joseph and Glenda; one daughter, Judy; one son-in-law, Jim; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Sam; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie KVIDERA, one son-in-law, Bob McHENRY, two grandsons, David KEITH and Tommy Joe YOUNG and 10 brothers and sisters, Herbert, Lela, J.V., May, Clifford, George Garland, Cecil, Raymond and Verlin an infant.

Funeral services for Charles F. CARTER, 73, of Arkoma, was born March 7, 1933, in Muldrow, to Melvin CARTER and Gladys (DOBBS) HOLT. He died Sunday, April 2, 2006, in Arkoma. He married Hazel Marie CARTER, Aug. 16, 1952, in Van Buren, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Hazel of the home; two daughters, Teresa and Nancy; two sons, Michael and Ricky; three sisters, Melva, Wilma and Elizabeth; three brothers, Calvin, Cleon and Ken; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Hostetler was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Fort Smith, Ark., to W.E. Earl and Flo (VOSS) HOSTETLER. He died Friday, March 31, 2006, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife, Darlene of the home; one daughter, Rhonda and husband Paul; one son, Steve and wife Laurie; one brother, Gary; three grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Elsie GAYLON.

Curtis Mitchell officiating, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. She was born April 14, 1909, in Akins, to William F. PETERS and Mary Ann DEATHRIDGE. She died Sunday, April 2, 2006, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include six nieces, Florence, Shirley, Mary Sue, Linda, Evelyn M. and Virginia; two nephews, John D. and Eugene; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John H. PETERS, Floyd PETERS and Ben PETERS, one sister, Flossie HOWELL and her parents.

Wendell Cox officiating, under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls. Mr. PUCKETT was born March 11, 1945, in Tulsa, to Albert and Rosetta (COWENS) PUCKETT. He died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Sallisaw. Survivors include three sisters, Marline, Kathryn, and Linda and husband Harlan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willie "Sonny" PUCKETT.

Jerry Cheater officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. WELLS was born Oct. 19, 1957, in Tahlequah, to Smith PICKETT and Betsey CHEATER. She died Friday, March 31, 2006, in Roland. She married Dale WELLS who preceded her in death, May 11, 2001, in Tulsa. Survivors include one son, Eddie; mother and step-father, Betsy and Eddie HECKEL; one sister, Katherine; six brothers, Billy, Robert, Michael, Jason, Edward and Joey; friend, James; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, Rhonda Sue HECKEL and one brother, Junior Lee CHEATER.

Mrs. WILBUR was born Feb. 5, 1954, in El Paso, Texas, to LaRoy KINSEY and Reba (SPARKS) KINSEY. She died Thursday, March 30, 2006, in Sallisaw. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca and Destiny; one son, Johnny; mother, Reba KINSEY; one sister, Cindy, one brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Holly; three nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

Military honors were provided by VFW Post 4518 in Sallisaw. Burial was in Buffington Cemetery, west of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. WILLIAMS was born July 31, 1921, in Sequoyah County, to Louis Allen WILLIAMS and Sara Margaret BELL. He died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Vian. He married Darlene Inez EDGEMON, Jan. 27, 1943, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Inez WILLIAMS of the home; four daughters, Brenda, Marilyn Barbara and Deborah; one son, Johnny L; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Ann WILLIAMS in 1994 and 11 brothers and sisters.

Burial was in Keota City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. WOOD was born Sept. 5, 1903, in Keota, I.T., to George Whitfield "Whit" WOOD and Eugenia (ELLIOTT) WOOD. He died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Noble. He married Ora Mae WILLIAMS, Dec. 23, 1923, in Cowlington. She preceded him in death, April 2, 1979, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include two daughters, Oma Jean and Myrna Lea; one son, Clent; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two nieces; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife and five brothers.

Mr. ALEXANDER was born June 22, 1929, in Porum, to John and Maria (GIRTY) ALEXANDER. He died Sunday, April 9, 2006, in Muskogee. Survivors include four daughters, Margaret and husband Robert, Janiceand husband Andrew, Marion and husband Gary, and MonaLisa and husband Marvin; one son, Andy, Jr. and wife Kim; one brother, Jimmy and wife Marion; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was born Feb. 4, 1915, in Marble City, to Dick CANTRELL and Jeannie (Welch) Cantrell. She died Monday, April 10, 2006, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include three daughters, Flossie, Bernice and Phyllis; two sons, E.M. and Woodrow Jr.; two sisters; 11 brothers; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Nora PIERCE and Jean GOBBI, and her husband of twenty-nine years, Woodrow "Shorty" MORTON.

Byron Allen BAKER, 49, of Roland died Saturday, March 25, 2006, in a local hospital. Cremation was under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. BAKER was born Oct. 26, 1956, in Santa Ana, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Ramona, of the home; a daughter, Shilo; three sons, Erick, Byron Allen Jr., and Christopher Lee; and three brothers, Steve, Phillip and Aaron.

JOHNSON, Oct. 1942, in Muskogee. He preceded her in death, June 3, 1959, in Jay. Mr. STEWART was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Sallisaw, to Al and Nettie STEWART. He died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in Oklahoma City. On Jan. 16, 1943, he eloped with his sweetheart, Rosalie BYRD. Funeral services for John W. POTTS Sr., 86, of Sallisaw, are being held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Calvary Temple Full Gospel Church, north of Sallisaw, with the Rev. Mike Glass, the Rev. Vernon Stone and Dick Mayo officiating.Burial is in Dwight Mission Cemetery, northwest of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. POTTS was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Everton, Ark., to Joseph Floyd POTTS and Elizabeth (MOORE) POTTS. He died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, in Sallisaw. He married Mabel McINERNEY, April 22, 1948, in Fort Smith. Survivors include his wife, Mabel, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Ann and Dave; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and his wife, Cindy, and Jim and his wife, Joey; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia; one brother, Joe; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Elsie GIBSON, and three brothers, Clifford, Gerald and Harold.
Funeral services for Gene SOUTHERN, 83, of Roland, are being held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Roland with Revs. David Johnson and James Ogden officiating. Burial is in Roland City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. SOUTHERN was born April 22, 1923, in Muldrow, to William Bill SOUTHERN and Beulah Isaac (KING) SOUTHERN. He died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, north of Sallisaw. He married Lera Marie OGDON, July 13, 1946, in Van Buren, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Lera SOUTHERN of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith Ann and Jim; one son and daughter-in-law, Roy Gene and Darlene; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary and Billy G. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Joyce LEWIS, Maxine HARDWICK, Shirley HENSON, and Joann BROWN and four brothers, Willard, Dale, Sydney and Don SOUTHERN.
