Services for Sarah Bell GROSE, of LaHabra, Calif., are being held Saturday, July 31, at the Memory Garden Chapel in LaHabra. Graveside services and interment will be Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the Akins Cemetery, northeast of Sallisaw, under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home. Mrs. GROSE was born Aug. 19, 1891, in Van Buren, Ark. She died in Brea, Calif., on Thursday, July 29, at the age of 90. Survivors include two daughters, Dortha, and Jeanne; two sons, Herbert, and Wayne; two sisters, Mary, and Beulah; two brothers, Silas and Fred; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services for Obed James "O.J." STEPHENS of Oklahoma City were held Friday, July 30, at 2 p.m. in the Demuth, Garrison and Sherman Chapel in Oklahoma City with the Rev. E.E. Holmberg officiating. Burial followed in the Arlington Cemetery in Oklahoma City under the direction of Demuth, Garrison and Sons. Mr. STEPHENS was born dec. 25, 1914 in Sallisaw. He died at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, July 28, at the age of 67. He and his wife, the former Lillian Ella FARMER, were married in 1945 in Oklahoma City. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Larry; two sisters, Edna and Golda; and three grandchildren.

Services for Hugh Mitchel ASBILL of Redding, Calif., formerly of Muldrow, were held Monday , August 2, at 2 p.m. in the Agent Chapel in Muldrow, with the Rev. Hoover Bailey officiating. Burial followed in the Blackjack Cemetery, northwest of Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home. Mr. ASBILL was born on July 24, 1910, to Thomas Jefferson Asbill and Katherine FLANAGAN ASBILL in Short Community. Mr. ASBILL is survived by his wife Lucille McGEHEE ASBILL, of the home. Other survivors include one son, Billy J.; two sisters, Mrs. Raye, Mrs. Maye; two brothers, James, Robert, and three grandchildren.

Services for Tommy Mae BOWDEN of Muldrow were held Monday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Muldrow with the Rev. Phil Whitten officiating. Burial was in the Cottonwood Cemetery, southeast of Muldrow, under the direction of the Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow and Sallisaw. Miss BOWDEN was born to Alfred Dale BOWDEN and Laura Mae CHAPMAN BOWDEN on March 2, 1965, in Wasco, Calif. She died at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., on Friday, Aug. 6, at the age of 17. Survivors include the parents, Alfred and Laura BOWDEN of the home; one sisters, Janita, and one brother-in-law, James; one nephew; the maternal grandmother, Eva CHAPMAN ; and the paternal grandfather, Albert BOWDEN.
Tony Carnell FRY, 78, of Sallisaw died Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the Vian Nursing Home. Services will be Friday, Aug. 13, at the Agent Chapel in Sallisaw. Mr. FRY was born to Robert L. FRY and Rosie V. RAINES FRY on Sept. 2, 1903, in Wetumka, Hughes District, Indian Territory. Mr. FRY and his wife, the former Jettie Marie CANTRELL, were married in Stilwell. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Ramona, and Virginia; four sons T.E., Bobby Lee, Raymon, and Clarence; 23 grandchildren; two sisters, Opal and Inice; and one brother Othele C.
Services for Belle R. HUNTER of Muldrow were held Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 2:30 p.m. in the Agent Chapel in Muldrow with the Rev. David Plemmons officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of the Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow and Sallisaw. Mrs. HUNTER was born Oct. 1, 1904, in Spiro, LeFlore District, Indian Territory. She died at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the age of 77. Mrs. HUNTER and her husband, William E. HUNTER, were married March 14, 1928, in Mena, Ark. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Geneva, and Geri; one son, Bill; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Cynthia.
Services for Noine Alma KNIGHT of Sallisaw were held Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. in the Wheeler Chapel with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Buffington Cemetery under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mrs. KNIGHT was born June 2, 1891, in Arkansas and died Sunday, Aug. 8, at the age of 91. Survivors include two daughters, Alta and Anna; one son Raymond; three sisters, Minnie, Martha, and Nancy; one brother, Ben; a niece, Dollie; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services for Effie Christine PATTERSON of Vian were held Monday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. in the Vian Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Calvin Carlile officiating. Interment followed in the Round Mountain Cemetery near Vian under the direction of the Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow and Sallisaw. Mrs. PATTERSON was born Jan. 22, 1911, to the late Harry and Nannie WHITE MORGAN in Clarksville, Ark. She died at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., on Friday, Aug. 6, at the age of 71. Mrs. PATTERSON and her husband, William Franklin PATTERSON, were married July 20, 1928, in Vian. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, James and Leon; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Juanita, Belle, Jackie, and Veotta; and two brothers, Johnny and Harry Jr.

Services for William Marion HAMILTON of Uniontown, Ark., are being held Saturday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. in the Lee Creek Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Wayne Smothers officiating. Burial follows in the Seabolt Cemetery under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. HAMILTON was born to Clifford Marion HAMILTON on Sept. 14, 1942, in Short. He died on Thursday, Aug. 12, at the age of 39. Survivors include the wife, Chris; the mother, Pearl HAMILTON ; four sisters, Sharon Ann, Margie, Alma and Josephine; and three brothers, John, Robert and Jerry.

Services for Ruth SETZ BANE were held Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. in the Sallisaw Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Burial was int he Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home. Mrs. BANE was born to Felix SETZ and Ethelinda DURHAM SETZ on March 8, 1898, in Oakland, Iowa. She died Sunday, Aug. 22, at the age of 84. Survivors include two sons, Charles and William; one brother, L.W.; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. BANE was preceded in death by her husband, John Y. BANE, on Nov. 11, 1981.
Services for Kathern Maybell JACKSON of Muldrow were held Saturday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Lee's Chapel Church with the Rev. Weaver Russell officiating. Interment was in the Lee Chapel Cemetery, Southeast of Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home. Mrs. JACKSON was born to Thomas Fred EUBANKS and Mollie Ruth MILLER EUBANKS on Dec. 6, 1902, in Cecil, Franklin County, Ark. She died at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark. on Thurs., Aug. 12, at the age of 79. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mars Grace and Mrs. Sue; 1 son, James; 1 stepdaughter, Gussie; 1 stepson, Albert; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include 2 sisters, Ora and Beulah and 1 brother, Paul.
Word has been received of the death of Lowell Kenneth LUTON Sr., 73, of Knoxville, Tenn. On Saturday, July 17. Mr. LUTON is a native of Sallisaw, was born May 19, 1909, to Mr. and Mrs. W.O. LUTON, former owners of the Palace Drug Store in Sallisaw. Memorial services were held at the Church United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 20, with Dr. Toombs Kay Jr. and the Rev. Denny Humphreys officiating. Private interment was in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville under the direction of Mann's Heritage Chapel funeral directors. Survivors include the wife, Katherine STOOKE LUTON of Knoxville; one son, Lowell Kenneth Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. Lester C.; one brother, David L.; and six grandchildren. Mr. LUTON was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank LUTON, Joseph LUTON, Paul LUTON and William LUTON.
Services for Mrs. Nellie Dorothy "Nell" WEAR of Sallisaw were held Tuesday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. in the Agent Chapel with Bro Frank Tepe officiating. Burial followed in the Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of the Agent Funeral Home. Mrs. WEAR was born to Danny E. SARTOR and Nora CRENSHAW SARTOR on April 28, 1898, in Fanshawe, LeFlore, District, Indian Territory. She died at Tulsa on Saturday, Aug. 14, at the age of 84. Mrs. WEAR was married to Robert Jack WEAR in 1917 in Sallisaw. He preceded his wife in death. Survivors include one son, Dale; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

Services for Grace BLANKENSHIP of Sallisaw were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. in the House of Prayer with Eugene Christenberry officiating. Burial followed in the LeFlore Cemetery in LeFlore under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. BLANKENSHIP was born to Jason COGBURN and Mandy JONES COGBURN on March 6, 1915, in Whites. She died on Friday, Aug. 20, at the age of 67. Survivors include two daughters, Lorene and Patsy; eight sons, Leo, Jimmy Don, William, Ted, Lonnie, Vernon, Marvin, and Virgil; seven sisters, Roxie, Rebecca and Emaline, Minnie, Nora, Dolly and Dorothy; two brothers, Orbray and George; 21 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Mrs. BLANKENSHIP was preceded in death by her husband, Austin BLANKENSHIP, on Aug. 18, 1978.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Aug. 19, for George Carrol HARKREADER, 59, who died Tuesday, Aug. 17, in a Merced, Calif. Hospital. Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Chapel was in Charge of the services. Masonic Lodge 749 conducted the services. Military graveside rites, by American Legion Post 83, followed in the Masonic section of the Merced Cemetery. The Rev. David P. Wood, Minister of Valley Baptist Church, officiated. Mr. HARKREADER was born Dec. 7, 1922, at Akins to Jess and Lena HOWELL HARKREADER. Survivors include the wife Virginia, of Merced; two daughters, Linda Ann and Kay; one son, Troy; three sisters, Jewell, Maxine, and Eloise; three brothers, Ron, Bob and Tom; and five grandchildren.
Services for William Elmer HUNTER of Muldrow will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Agent Chapel in Muldrow with the Rev. David Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery, five miles east of Spiro, with the Rev. David Plemmons officiating. Mr. HUNTER was born to Casper H. HUNTER and Virginia Belle JAMISON HUNTER on Dec. 27, 1985, in Waco, Texas. He died at Fort Smith, Ark., on Monday, Aug. 23, at the age of 76. Survivors include two daughters, Geneva, and Geri; two sons, Bill and David; two sisters, Mary and Ginger; three brothers, C.H. and E.D. and Lawrence; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services for Ernest Jackson MERRILL were held Thursday, Aug. 12, at 3 p.m. at Delano, Calif., with the Rev. Harmon Dickey officiating. Interment was in the North Kern District Cemetery, Delano, under the direction of Delano Mortuary. Mr. MERRILL was born July 1, 1924, at Muldrow. Mr. MERRILL died at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Loma Linda, Calif., on Aug. 9 at the age of 58. Survivors include his wife, Golden Pebbles MERRILL of Ontario; one son, Barry Allen; his mother, Mrs. Jewell JACKSON DENNY; his father, Cecil MERRILL; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Helen. Other survivors include half-brothers and half-sisters, John D.; Dr. Gary D.; Mrs. Pat; Ollie "Dud"; Willard; Mrs. Vida; Bobby Jack; Raymond; Mrs. Kaye; and Mrs. Judye; and three aunts, Ella and Stella, and Parolee.
Services for James Wesley WILSON of Sallisaw are being held Thursday, Aug. 26, at 2 p.m. in the Marble City Holiness Church with the Rev. Lavern Stephens officiating. Burial follows in the Dwight Mission Cemetery under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. WILSON was born to Jim WILSON and Carrie WATKINS WILSON on Oct. 31, 1893, in Arkansas. He died on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the age of 88. Survivors include the wife, Agnes of the home; five daughters, Bonnie, Ava and Rissie, Sylvia and Fern; five sons, James, Dewey, Wiley, Frank and Tom; one sister, Rissie; one brother, Harley; 51 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mr. WILSON was preceded in death by a son, George WILSON in 1955.

Services for Eula BROWN of Sallisaw were held Monday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. in the Agent Chapel with the Rev. Tom Ogdon and the Rev. Bob Winton officiating. Burial will follow int he Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of the Agent Funeral Home. Mrs. BROWN was born to William DAVIS and Mary TRAMMELL DAVIS on March 26, 1893, in Batesville, Ark. She died in Sequoyah Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 26, at the age of 89. Mrs. BROWN and her husband, Edward BROWN, were married Nov. 6, 1920, in Vian. He survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Eva, Cleo, Georgia and Mary Lou; three sons, Robert, Earl Wayne, and Bill; one sister, Mayme; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Services for William C. "Bud" ENGLAND of Gans were held Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. in the Agent Chapel in Sallisaw with the Rev. C.H. Ramey officiating. Interment was in the Peters Cemetery, east of Sallisaw, under the direction of the Agent Funeral Home. Mr. ENGLAND was born to William "Bill" ENGLAND and Hattie COWETT ENGLAND on Nov. 29, 1907, in the Price's Chapel community. He died in Sallisaw on Sunday, Aug. 22, at the age of 74. He and his wife, the former Lillie Mae MARTIN, were married Nov. 11, 1934, in Gans. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Alice, Mrs. Reba Sue and Mrs. Lee Ellen; six sons, Melvin, Rufus and William, Arkie Troy, Lewis, and Barney; three sisters, Dolly, Lora, and Rodie; two brothers, John and Alvis; and 18 grandchildren.
Services for Jeffery Earl HAMMOND of St. Louis, Mo.; were held in Shawnee, Kan., at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, in the Amos Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services are being held Saturday, Aug. 28, in the Akins Cemetery under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. HAMMOND was born to Harry Earl HAMMOND and Dixie Sharon HAMMOND on Dec. 9, 1963, in Kansas City. He died Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the age of 19 as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident. Survivors include one son, Joseph; the parents, Harry Earl and Dixie Sharon HAMMOND; two brothers, Roger and Spencer; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard McLEAR Sr.; and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lesetta DYE.
