Brent ELLISON, who resided in Sallisaw, passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at his home. He was born March 14, 1939, in Waldron, Ark., to the late Lloyd ELLISON and Lauren Madge (DUNN) ELLISON. He was 72 years old. Brent was a retired route salesman for Pepsi Beverage Company in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a member of 101st Airborne Division in the U.S. Army, was an avid Razorback fan, and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, Ark., with the Rev. Scott Martin officiating. Burial is at Hickory Ridge Cemetery, northwest of Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Charleston. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Willine (MARTIN) ELLISON; one daughter, Danette GERRED and husband, Travis of Sallisaw; and three grandchildren, Clay, Cadence and Brinlee GERRED. Pallbearers are Buford Martin III, Brett Green, Josh Teague, David Davidson, Tom Smothers, Ian Roberts, Jim Roberts and Michael Martin. Funeral services for Billy Jack “Hoyt” FIELDS, 35, of Marble City were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Stokes Smith Ceremonial Grounds, northwest of Sallisaw, with Frankie Studie and Jackie Bush officiating. Burial was at Bush Cemetery in Marble City under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. FIELDS was born on May 1, 1976, in Tahlequah to Billy Joe “Snow” FIELDS and Nancy Lee LANGLEY. He died on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, in Marble City. He worked in the security field. He married Patricia Andi McCOY on May 5, 2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Patricia FIELDS of the home; two daughters, Carmen (Unchi) and Riann (Jensi) FIELDS, both of the home; his mother, Nancy FIELDS of Marble City; sister, Betty Jo McCOY of Sallisaw; brother, L.S. FIELDS of Sallisaw; and his grandmother, of Nicut. He was preceded in death by his father; a grandmother; his grandfathers; and an uncle. Pallbearers were Larry Webber, Bill Webber, Michael Holcomb, Billy Gann, Sonny Chanate, Keith McCoy and Mike George.

Memorial services for Charles Allen “Chuck” GROSCLAUDE are being held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Sallisaw. Mr. GROSCLAUDE died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011. He was born on March 18, 1930, in Hannah, N.D. He worked in radiation protection departments for General Electric at Hanford in Richland, Wash., Dairyland Power in La Crosse, Wis., the Nevada Test Site near Las Vegas, Nev., and he retired as Health and Safety Director at Sequoyah Fuels in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Ollie Jo of the home; two daughters, Renee GROSCLAUDE of New York, N.Y. and Brenda KATAPODIS of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; one brother, Gerald GROSCLAUDE of Richland; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Arrangements were under the direction of Add’Vantage Funeral Service of Tulsa.

Funeral services for Fred C. HARDIN, 87, of Vian were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Vian Baptist Church with Jim Murphy and the Rev. Tommy Shropshire officiating. Burial was at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. HARDIN was born on July 28, 1924, in Muskogee to Pat H. HARDIN and Arla Dean (PERKINS) HARDIN. He died on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, in Vian. He was an insurance agent with Troy McNeal and Company and the owner and operator of Hardin Grocery in Dora. He married Doris Jean GOSSETT on Dec. 21, 1945, in Clarksville, Ark. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2009. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia TINNIN of Fayetteville, Ark., and Janet DOUGHERTY of Tyler, Texas; one son, Bob HARDIN of North Little Rock, Ark.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Ann HOGAN; one son, Paul HARDIN; his parents; and one brother, Hugh HARDIN. Pallbearers were Bob Tinnin, Aaron Tinnin, Paul Carter Hardin, Ken Dougherty, Will Dougherty, Phillip Hogan Jr., and Ben Hogan.

Graveside services for Lilith Marie HARTT, infant twin daughter of Caleb and Tabetha HARTT of Muldrow, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fleetwood Cemetery in Sallisaw with the Rev. Vernon Stone officiating under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Lilith was born on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Caleb and Tabetha HARTT. She died on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, in Fort Smith. Survivors include her parents; three sisters, Emira HARTT, Ivy HARTT and her twin, Talynn HARTT, all of the home; one brother, Jase HARTT of the home; and her grandparents.

Funeral services for Ruth HENRY, 88, of Sallisaw were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene in Sallisaw with the Revs. David Rhoads, Steve Rhoads and Edward Cunningham officiating. Burial was at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. HENRY was born on July 1, 1923, in Gans to Joseph Plumber RHOADS and Molly Georgia (McDANIELS) RHOADS. She died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, in Sallisaw. She was a homemaker and worked at Better Foods grocery store in Los Angeles, Calif. She married Elvin Delbert HENRY on July 29, 1939, in Gans. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1996. Survivors include one son, Dwight HENRY of Sallisaw; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Geneva HYLES, Verda LESLEY, Ruby McDOLE and Jeanie REITZ; and five brothers, Albert, Fred, Lee, John and one infant brother. Pallbearers were James Henry, Jordan Henry, Jody Rhoads, Mike Rhoads, Earl Henry Jr., and Larry Dyer.

Raymond Eugene DICKENS, 68, of Sallisaw died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, in Sallisaw. He was born on July 17, 1943, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Curtis DICKENS and Violet SUMMERS. No formal service is planned at this time. Cremation is under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. He was a general laborer. Survivors include three sisters, Rosalie McKIM of Conway, Ark., Virginia McCAWLEY of Muldrow and Dorothy CHANDLER of Fort Smith; and several other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joan DORITY; and one brother, Charles DICKENS.

Funeral services for Norman “Buzz” BARTON Sr., 79, of Vian were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Vian Baptist Church with the Rev. Garry Brown, Bro. Royce Martin and A.J. Henshaw officiating. Burial was at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. BARTON was born on Oct. 21, 1932, in Vian to Edward Bud BARTON and Sophia Hazel (RICHARDSON) BARTON. He died on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a math teacher for Vian and Roland. He retired as Sequoyah County Superintendent. He married Frankie Oleta BAKER on Jan. 1, 1955, in Greenville, Miss. Survivors include his wife, Oleta BARTON of the home; two daughters, Gayla BARTON and Shayla BARTON, both of Vian; two sons, Norman BARTON Jr. and Ed BARTON, both of Vian; one brother, Johnny BARTON of Alva; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul BARTON; and one grandson. Pallbearers were Ed Brockman, Jerry Simon, Joe Paul Simon, Danny O’Dell, Gary Barnoskie and Tommy McCreight.

Funeral services for Carolyn Sue POLLARD BEESON, 73, formerly of Gore, are being held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church in Webbers Falls with the Rev. Wendall Cox and Bobby Long officiating. Burial is at the Gore City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. BEESON was born on Dec. 8, 1937, in Muskogee. She died on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, in Sallisaw. She was a waitress. Survivors include two daughters, Vickey HODGES of Sallisaw and Johnneine McMANUS of Tahlequah; one son, Johnny POLLARD of Webbers Falls; five sisters; four brothers; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Opal POLLARD. Pallbearers are Earl Shamblin, Stoney Shamblin, Robert Pollard, David Bray, Bobby Long and Jeff Hodge. The family will meet at the church at noon for lunch with friends and family.

Services for Leroy CARTER, 71, of Muldrow are being held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the VFW in Muldrow. Mr. CARTER was born on May 18, 1940, in Seminole to Ed CARTER and Ophal SMITH. He died on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a carpenter. Survivors include one daughter, Sherrie WILLIAMS of Roland; two sons, Leslie CARTER of Muldrow and Ronald CARTER of Roland; two sisters, Sheirta PLYMALE of Lavaca, Ark. and Diane CARTER of West Plains, Mo.; two brothers, Carl CARTER of Bokoshe and Jerry CARTER of Muldrow; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Burial is at Bush Cemetery in Marble City under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. EDWARDS was born on July 8, 1947, in Mesa, Ariz., to Jasper Allen “Jake” EDWARDS Sr. and Della Juanita (WILES) EDWARDS. He died on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, in McCurtain. He was a repairman for Riverside Furniture Factory in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Phyllis Ann BUSH on Oct. 18, 1976, in Stilwell. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis EDWARDS of the home; one daughter, Felicia EDWARDS and Dominac BEARHILL of Marble City; one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Michelle BUSH of Muskogee; his mother, of Bokoshe; three sisters, Anna TACKETT of Milton, Joy WHILLHITE of Jenny Lind, Ark., and Wanda EDWARDS of Texas; two brothers, J.C. EDWARDS of Bullock, N.C. and Bobby EDWARDS of Bokoshe; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Howell EDWARDS. Funeral services for Nina KENNEDY CARTER, 81, of Gore were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Agent Chapel in Sallisaw with the Rev. Vernon Stone officiating. Mrs. CARTER was born on Dec. 31, 1929, in Yellowhammer to Robert Miles KENNEDY and Lucy Arminnie (JONES) KENNEDY. She died on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in Gore. She was a homemaker. She married Willard Sosbee CARTER on Feb. 6, 1948, in Van Buren, Ark. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1990. Survivors include two sons, Miles CARTER of Arlington, Texas and Leslie CARTER of Tahlequah; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ben CARTER; her parents; and one sister, Gladys PECKHAM.

George Lloyd COOK, 79, of Vian died on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in Muskogee. He was born on July 18, 1932, in Muskogee to George W. COOK and Ruby (COUCH) COOK. No formal service is planned at this time. Cremation is under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. COOK worked in construction. He married Barbara CARGILL on Aug. 19, 1956, in Stigler. Survivors include his wife, Barbara COOK of the home; three daughters, Angela COOK of Vian; Janet McGRATH of Clearlake, Calif. and Cassie BARNET of Kyle, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gene, Carnell and Oneal COOK; and one sister, Mildred.

Burial was at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. ELLIS was born on Aug. 9, 1933, in Sallisaw to Bogie BLAYLOCK and Millie Marie (BTHANY) BLAYLOCK. She died on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in Sallisaw. She was a retired salesperson. She worked at Hunts and C.R. Anthony’s and was a former manager at Felts Shoes. She married George Melvin ELLIS on Aug. 15, 1951, in Van Buren, Ark. Survivors include her husband, Melvin ELLIS of the home; three sons, Mike ELLIS and Randy ELLIS, both of Sallisaw and Alan ELLIS of Vian; one brother, Melvin BLAYLOCK of Lodi, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Maxine BURNS and one brother, Jessie BLAYLOCK. John Flute officiating. Burial is at Marble City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. JONES was born on Oct. 15, 1954, in Fort Smith to L.J. HARRIS and Hazel (HAYNES) JONES. He died on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in Sallisaw. He was a general laborer. He married Margaret CONLEY ROSS in January of 1992, in Fort Smith. Survivors include his wife, Margaret JONES of the home; four daughters, Ronetta PRICE of Dallas, Texas, Marsha CHEATER of Fort Smith, and Gay NOISEY and Tamara COOKSEY, both of Marble City; one son, James CHEATER of Sallisaw; two sisters, Dorothy ADAMS and husband, James and Dorothy JONES, all of Fort Smith; two brothers, Lewis JONES of Fort Smith and Carl JONES of San Antonio, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and one grandchild. (POWELL) HUBLER. She died on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in Gore. She was a retired cook. She married Earnest Laverne KENNIE on May 29, 1937, in Sequoyah County. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2006. Survivors include three daughters, Wanda GILLIAM of Tahlequah, Wilma SMITH of Muskogee and Dortha NAIL of Wagoner; three sisters, Ella J. SWEARENGIN, Mary MANON and Frances SUMPTER; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter HUBLER Jr., John HUBLER, William HUBLER, Parley HUBLER and Lynn HUBLER; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several other family members and friends. She died on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in Sallisaw. Survivors include one sister, Pat OBERSTE of Sallisaw; two brothers, Willis LOWE of Wellington, Kan., and Larry LOWE of Sallisaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, June WALTERS; and two brothers, Marion LOWE and Joel LOWE Jr.

Montie HARRISON MARRS, 102, formerly of Sallisaw died on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in Santa Barbara, Calif. She was born on June 17, 1909, in Sallisaw. Private family services are being held. Mrs. MARRS grew up and attended schools in Sallisaw. She moved with her family to California in 1942 and later returned to Sallisaw. She operated The Tell Star restaurant in the 1970s, prior to that she worked at Marrs Café. She married Clyde MARRS in 1926. Survivors include one son, Ben MARRS of Santa Barbara; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sons, Clyde, Donald Floyd MARRS, Kenneth Dale MARRS and Billy Gerald MARRS.

Graveside services for Beverly Sue CLAYBROOK McLAIN are being held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Peters Cemetery in Sallisaw with Stevie Bruesch officiating under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. McLAIN was born on July 8, 1945, in Tulsa to Elvin CLAYBROOK and Mary Lou (PETERS) CLAYBROOK. She was a manager at the Oklahoma Department of Tourism. Survivors include one daughter, Lorrie GRAN of Tahlequah; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and an aunt.

Funeral services for Rachel L. SORENSON, 51, of Sallisaw were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Agent Chapel in Sallisaw with Pastor Tim Sculls officiating. Burial was at Akins Cemetery, northeast of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. SORENSON was born on April 27, 1960, in Sallisaw to John Douglas CRAWFORD and Ruby Helen (NUTT) CRAWFORD. She died on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. She was an assembly line worker at Trane. She married Billy Joe SORENSON on Feb. 10, 1979, in Sallisaw. Survivors include her husband, Billy of the home; two daughters, Jolynn SORENSON and Amanda STRICKLAND, both of Sallisaw; her mother, of Sallisaw; four sisters, Joy ROSS, Martha WALKER, Brenda CAUGHMAN and Sandra DOWNS, all of Sallisaw; one brother, Rocky CRAWFORD of Oklahoma; and four grandchildren. Funeral services for Altha Lean ROBERTS BROWN, 78, of North Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Fort Smith, Ark., are being held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church. Burial is at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Mrs. BROWN was born on April 4, 1933, in Moffett. She died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, in Las Vegas. She was a member of Word of Life Christian Center where she was a deaconess, choir member, Sunday School teacher and member of the Missionary Society. Survivors include her daughters, Sharon ROBERTS and Jean BOY, both of North Las Vegas, Saleemah JALALIDDIN of Roland; and Trudy SMITH-NORTON of Merrillville, Ind.; her son, the Rev. Horace SMITH of Denver, Colo.; sister, Margaret McCLAIN of Fort Smith; brother, the Rev. Evan ROBERTS of Columbus, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Deborah Lynn MIZE BREWER, 62, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, in Fayetteville. She was born on Feb. 16, 1949, in Muskogee to William Dan MIZE and Laverna Mae (DeFOOR) MIZE. She was a retired schoolteacher and a member of Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville where she was very active in the church choir. She is survived by one son, Aaron Paul BREWER and wife, Jennifer Cyrisse MATZGANNIS BREWER of Seaford, Va.; one daughter, Shannon Nicole ROBINSON and husband, Jeffrey Edward ROBINSON of Finksburg, Md.; her mother, LaVerna FAWCETT of Springdale, Ark.; one sister, Dani Lea CORN of Tulsa; two nephews, Jordan CORN and William BARGAS; and three grandchildren, Taylor Nicole ROBINSON, Tyler Jeffrey ROBINSON and Taylor Cyrisse MATZGANNIS BREWER; sisters at heart, Kay BREWER and Barbara BOYD and her extended BREWER family. Geraldine GUMMERE was born in Sallisaw on May 14, 1921, and passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents Frank WELCH and Nannie (HALE) WELCH, and sister, Fay WELCH HANLON. She will be deeply missed by children, Tanya ROWE BEARD and her husband, Al of Sallisaw, and her son George Welch GUMMERE of Tahlequah. She is survived by a sister, Maye MYATT of Sallisaw; cherished companion Shawnee STEWART of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Cory and Haley GUMMERE of Tulsa; nieces Celia SOUTH and Nancylee MYATT; numerous cousins; and many dear friends and former colleagues. Geraldine graduated Valedictorian from Sallisaw High School in 1939, and continued her education at Bacone College in Muskogee and Northeastern State College in Tahlequah. She taught school in the communities of Oakdale, Bluff, Harrison and Akins. In 1946, she made her home in California where she taught elementary school in Richmond, Graeagle and Sacramento. She retired after 30 years of teaching in California, and in 1976, she and son George moved back to Sallisaw. Geraldine spent 10 years teaching school at Liberty and Sallisaw High School. After retiring from teaching in Oklahoma, she had a successful 20-year career in real estate, working for Melinda Riggs at Century 21 in Sallisaw. Most people retire once in their lives, but she had three retirements and always told family that she loved to work. Geraldine like sports and watched racing, boxing, football and was an avid fan to the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, especially with “the boys,” friends of son George. She was a life-long Democrat and liked to watch all debates, always adding her critique. Geraldine was proud of her Cherokee heritage and took interest in tribal elections. She was kind and giving and irreplaceable…truly one of a kind. Robert H. BROWN, 44, of Bath, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at his home. He was born in Bath on July 24, 1967, the son of Henry and Patricia (ELWOOD) BROWN. Bob was a 17-year employee of Phillips Lighting in Bath, a member of both, the Hammondsport, N.Y., and Bath Fire Departments, an avid Buffalo Bills fan, and loved to go hunting with his father, brother and son. D.B. MERRILL was born on Dec. 19, 1926, in Gans, the son of Alvie Harrison MERRILL and Alta Carrie (HOUSE) MERRILL. He passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at the age of 85, in Fort Smith, Ark., with his loving wife and sons at his bedside. Before his retirement as a rancher and trader, in the 1950s he worked at Camp Chaffee shining soldier’s boots and shoes. After that he worked for the Kansas City Southern Railroad, Fort Smith Stockyards and managed the Sebastian County Humane Society in Fort Smith. On Oct. 22, 1971, he married Corda WILTSHIRE in Poteau and together they created a wonderful home for their children, filled with laughter, love and kindness. D.B. was a family man and spent most of his life making children happy. He had a gift for storytelling and loved to share stories about bears, panthers and all kinds of animals with his nieces, nephews and grandchildren. D.B. will be missed especially here at Christmas time, because he spent so many hours on the telephone calling all the children and pretending he was Santa Claus. He also taught his sisters, brothers, most of his nieces, nephews and grandkids how to drive. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Corda of the home; three sons, D.B. He died on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, in Elk City. He attended Sallisaw Public Schools for 12 years. He graduated in 1977. He earned a degree in HPER from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. He completed his teaching degree at Southwestern State University. He worked at Sweetwater Public Schools as a coach, and later became a pro shop attendant at the Greens Golf Course in Burns Flat. He taught at Carter Schools and 2005 he taught alternative education and coached the golf team in Magnum. He married Lenita GAGE on June 14, 1980, in Cheyenne. Survivors include his wife, Lenita O’NEIL of the home; three sons, Robert Shannon O’NEIL, Justin Michael O’NEIL and Lance Henry O’NEIL, all of Burns Flat; one sister, Linda O’NEIL PIERCE of Jonesboro, Ark.; mother and father-in-law, Milton and Mary Lee GAGE of Elk City; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Russell PLUMMER, 67, of Spiro were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mallory-Martin Chapel in Spiro. Arrangements were under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro, with Reverend Roger Myers officiating. Burial was in Spiro City Cemetery. . Mr. PLUMMER was born April 22, 1944, in Elwood, Indiana to Orville Denton PLUMMER and Amy Elizabeth (HENRY) ASHING and passed away December 14, 2011, in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 67. He is survived by one daughter, Lisa WALL and husband, Haskell of the home; three sons, Chris PLUMMER, Jessie PLUMMER and wife, Veda, and Frank PLUMMER and wife, Valerie, all of Spiro, Oklahoma; one sister, Martha BROWER of Anderson, Indiana; three brothers, Orville "Jr." PLUMMER, Jerry PLUMMER, and Robert "Bob" PLUMMER, all of Spiro, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; Russell was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jackie PLUMMER and one sister Diana SELF. He was a member of the former Birch Chapel Assembly of God Church.

Funeral services for Madie TIMMERMAN STEPHENS, 95, of Sallisaw were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Watts Holiness Church in Sallisaw with the Rev. Terry Guthrie and Keith Tatham officiating. Burial was at Buffington Cemetery, west of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. STEPHENS was born on Dec. 23, 1915, in Drakes Prairie to John William TIMMERMAN and Sally Elizabeth (McKINNEY) TIMMERMAN. She died on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, in Sallisaw. She was a Sunday School and church secretary at House of Prayer for 42 years, a homemaker and farmer. She married Ted Isaac STEPHENS on Dec. 23, 1933, in Mckey. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce STEPHENS of Tulsa and Connie HAWKINS of Overland Park, Kan.; two sons, Curtis STEPHENS of Vian and Steve STEPHENS of Cabot, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and J.C. LEE, two sisters, Oma TATHAM and Noma STITES, two brothers, Dale and Arch TIMMERMAN, a half-brother, Walter BRUTON and three half-sisters, Jessie COMPTON, Bonnie LEIGH and Callie HOLLAND. Pallbearers were Tyrone Stephens, Stephen Stephens, Derrick Stephens, Kurt Stephens, Brad Johnson, David Niederauer, Daniel James and Mike Adam.

Funeral services for Jo Anne BOONE, 64, of Spiro are being held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Spiro with Darin McKnight officiating. Burial is at Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro. She was born on Oct. 4, 1947, in Talihina to Joseph Lee BOONE and Anne Lee (BLUE) BOONE. She died on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, in Spiro. She was a secretary and a member of Talihina First Baptist Church and attended Spiro First Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer SEBO and husband, Gary of Spiro; one sister, Janet ROGERS of Oklahoma City; her mother, of Spiro; and two grandchildren. Judy Mae FIORE of Sallisaw was born on May 2, 1940, in Denver, Colo., to Robert and Mable (EVANS) BURGE and passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, in Tulsa at the age of 71. She is survived by two sons, Robert TURMAN and wife, Elizabeth of Sallisaw and Larry TURMAN and wife, Lisa of Shasta Lake, Calif.; one sister, Roberta CARROLL of Bellvue, Wash.; two brothers, Jim BURGE of Long Beach, Calif., and William BURGE of Scappoose, Ore.; one daughter-in-law, Anna TURMAN of Cedarville, Ark.; four grandchildren, Jennifer TURMAN and Jonathan TURMAN, both of Shasta Lake, Amanda SHIRAH of Lakeland, Fla., and Corey Joe WOOLEY of Grove; and one great-grandchild, Casen SHIRAH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward FIORE and one son, Terry TURMAN. She was a member of the Christian faith and loved cooking, bowling and helping the disadvantaged. Graveside services for Betty FRYE, 78, of Sallisaw are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian with Chaplain Wendell Cox officiating under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. FRYE was born on April 14, 1933, in Vian to Alfred and Ida (SITZ) GORDON. She died on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, in Tulsa. She was a retired farm laborer and artist. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Elaine TURNER of Sallisaw; two sons, Kenneth JORDAN of Illinois and Jerry FRYE of Sallisaw; two brothers, Melb GORDON of Bristow and John GORDON of Long; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, two sons and one daughter. Pallbearers are members of her family.

Ralph C. “Sode” HARP, 79, of Sallisaw passed this life on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, in Sallisaw. He was born on Sept. 24, 1932, in Drakes Prairie, the son of Clarence HARP and Mamie (LEIGH) HARP. He was married to Marsha Ann KOHLER on Jan. 6, 1978, in Sallisaw. Mr. HARP was a rancher and cattleman. Survivors are his wife, Marsha “Brownie” HARP of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Debi and Ben THAYER of Hickory, N.C. and Donna HARP of Dallas, Texas; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard and Kim HARP and Doug HARP, all of Sallisaw; six grandchildren, Ryan HARP, Kacie HAWKINS, Hannah HARP, Alex THAYER, Becky McKNIGHT and Brandi HARP; five great-grandchildren, Riley HARP, McKenna REAL, Asher REAL, Riley THAYER and Grant THAYER; two sisters, Geneva ROSS of Sallsiaw and Lillian NEW of Union City, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George HARP and three sisters, Gladys PAYNE, LeDenna HARRISON and Daisy CLARK. Funeral services for Donald Wayne LORTON, 73, of Tulsa were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Agent Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial was at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. LORTON was born on May 1, 1938, in Barnsdall to Ernest Cleo LORTON and Lucille Helen ELVINGTON. He died on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, in Tulsa. He was a retired school bus driver for the Tulsa Public Schools. Survivors include his life partner, John DENNY of the home; one sister, Jean LORTON STAMPS of Skiatook; one half-sister, Mickie WHEAT of Bartlesville; one brother, Kenny LORTON of Ketchum; and two stepbrothers, Rusty and Jim CLARK, both of California. Pallbearers were Frank Cullom, John Riggs, Curtis Stephens, Russell McCalment and Bill Talbot.

Clifford T. MEECE Jr. passed away on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, in Sallisaw at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 4 days. He was born on March 19, 1938, in Grandfield to Clifford T. Sr. and Ruby (RENNELS) MEECE. He graduated from Victory Oklahoma High School in May 1955 then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree in May 1959. He entered the Air Force in December 1960, and served during the Berlin Wall buildup and Cuban Crisis. During his service, he attained the rank of Captain; he left the reserves in 1969. While he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, he met Frances Ann GORE, whom he married Aug. 26, 1962, the day before he was released from active duty. They moved to Sherman, Texas, where their two children Michael and Lee Ann were born. They then moved to Paris, Texas where he was a partner and operator in Gibson’s Pharmacy. In 1972, they moved to Sallisaw where he ran the leased pharmacy department at Walmart. In 1997, he opened Clif’s Pharmacy and was the owner and pharmacist in charge at the time of his death. Clif was very active in his church and community. He was a member of the Sallisaw Church of Christ, where over the years he served as deacon, treasurer and Bible class teacher. He and Fran were also involved in every activity that Michael and Lee Ann participated in. He served as President of the PTO, the Sallisaw Band Boosters and the Sallisaw Football Booster Club with Fran. He was very involved with education; Clif served for 15 years on the Sallisaw School board. He was elected as a director for the Oklahoma State School Board Association and served on many committees. He was elected to third Vice President and eventually served as President. He represented Oklahoma at various regional and national meetings. He received many awards including the Buddy Spencer Leadership Award, the Distinguished Service Award, the Partner for Excellence Award, and the Oklahoma All State School Board Member Award. He was also a charter member of the Sallisaw Educational Foundation. Clif was active in the Chamber of Commerce and Sallisaw Lions Club. He was a member of the Board of Directors of People, Incorporated, a non-profit organization for improved living for handicapped and mentally disabled. He was also named Honorary State Trooper by the Oklahoma Troopers Association in 1980, for his service to the Highway Patrol. Clif was a member of the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association; he served as President from 1995 to 1996. He was also awarded the state Bowl of Hygeia Award in 1999. He was the 1994 Outstanding Southwestern Oklahoma sate University Pharmacy Alumni. He was a lifetime member of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Pharmacy Alumni Association. Clif is survived by his wife, Fran of the home; daughter, Lee Ann HAGINS and husband, Jay of Aspermont, Texas; son, Michael MEECE and wife, Rachel of Glenpool; three granddaughters, Micah HAGINS of Aspermont, Texas, Rylee MEECE and Hailee MEEKS of Glenpool; three grandsons, Colby MEECE and Matthew MEEKS of Glenpool, and Roger SEAGO of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, James MEECE and wife, Dana of Ardmore and Jerry MEECE ands wife, Shirley of Gainesville, Texas; two sisters, Margaret ARNOLD and husband, Noel of Bedford, Texas and Sherilyn MENTES of San Clemente, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; his Clif’s Pharmacy family; and many, many friend. Family was a very big part of his life and he was extremely proud of all of the accomplishments his children and grandchildren have achieved. He had a special relationship with his pharmacy staff; he was more of a father/grandfather/mentor than a boss. They were his extended family. Clif always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. He once said that people will only be remembered for the lives they have touched and changed. Everyone he met he left an impression on. Active pallbearers were Charlie Sainer, Burt Matthews, James Hoover, Bill Smith, Doy Wilkins and Ron Scott. Honorary pallbearers were the Men of Sallisaw Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Cynthia Kay NEWELL, 43, of Sallisaw are being held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church in Sallisaw. She was born on May 20, 1968, in Hot Springs, Ark., to Phillip NEWELL and Rhonda Kay ENNIS. She died on Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, in Sallisaw. She was an EMT. Survivors include one brother, Shane JOHNSON of Sallisaw; two nieces; and several other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Gerry Wayne PALMER, 58, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate. Burial was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Services of Coalgate. Mr. PALMER was born on April 21, 1952, in Oklahoma City. He died on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, in Weatherford, Texas.

Burial was at Lee’s Chapel Cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. WRIGHT was born on April 14, 1925, in Moffett to Thomas Edward WRIGHT and Johnnie C. (COCKRUM) WRIGHT. He died on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, in Roland. He was a retired service station owner and operator. He married Opal Lee SHADELL on Oct. 31, 1945, in Van Buren, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Opal WRIGHT of the home; one daughter-in-law, Sally WRIGHT of Mount Ida, Ark.; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Reba SHADELL of Muldrow; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Tom WRIGHT, his parents, three sisters, Nina PHILLIPS, Susie FLEETWOOD and Helen WRIGHT and two brothers, Ralph WRIGHT and J.T. WRIGHT.
