Graveside services for Jacob Isiah ARMER, an infant, of Vian, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian with Rev. Mack Jackson officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. He was born April 25, 2008, in Fort Smith, Ark., to April Pauline ARMER. He died Friday, April 25, 2008, in Fort Smith. Survivors include his mother, April P. ARMER of the home; maternal grandparents, L. G. and Eva ARMER; and several cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Rev. John A. BARNES, 64, of Wilburton, formerly of Vian, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wilburton High School Auditorium with the Rev. Walter Kuhlman officiating. Burial was in Wilburton Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home of Wilburton. Rev. BARNES was born March 4, 1944, in Dewey, to Edd and Mary (SKINNER) BARNES. He died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in Tulsa. He married Linda WALTERS, Nov. 18, 1978, in Gore. Survivors include his wife, Linda BARNES of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Anita, and Lana and Billie, Melissa and Ronnie, Tina and Tracy; sister and brother-in-law, Inez and Jerry; brothers and sisters-in-law, George, Ed and Connie and Glen and Tammy; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and the Son Shine Fellowship Church family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jeanie BARNES.

Memorial services for Joe Louis BELL, 69, of Norman, formerly of Shady Grove, are being held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Clayton officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. BELL died Thursday, April 24, 2008. Survivors include his wife, Diana; daughters, Merelyn and Karen; sons, Mike, Mark and Eddie; brother, Leonard and Ken; and sisters, Paula and Helen. He was preceded in death by his mother, four brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services for Verdelma E. BYRD, 86, of Poteau, are being held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Center Point Cemetery in Muldrow with Pastor Tommy Riddle officiating, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. She was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Ardmore. She died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Poteau. Survivors include one sister, Ollie B.; brother, Andrew; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and her church family.

She died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in Little Rock, Ark. Mr. COWETT was born June 18, 1940, in Vian, to Herman and Merle (ROSS) COWETT. He died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Porum. Survivors include his wife, Linda COWETT of the home; one daughter, Debbie; three sons, Kelley and his wife, Amanda, and Leonard and his wife, Angie, and Danny; mother, Merle COWETT; seven sisters, Beatrice, Darlene, Ailene and her husband, John, Thelma and her husband, Richard, Kathy, and her husband, Bart, and Freda and her husband, Lonnie, and Linda; one brother, R. Doyle Sharp officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. JOHNSON was born July 29, 1925, to John Lee STACY and Golda Mae (NOBLIN) STACY. She died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Sallisaw. She married David Colen JOHNSON Sr., in 1956, in Redfork. Survivors include her husband, David Colen JOHNSON Sr. of the home; one son, David Colen Jr.; one sister, Nancy Ann; two brothers, Jay Dean and John Lee Jr.; and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Victor Gene STACY.

Terry KAMINSKI Sr., 64, of Vian, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, in Sallisaw. No formal service is planned and cremation is under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. KAMINSKI was born March 31, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, to John KAMINSKI and Sophia (KRAJEWSKI) KAMINSKI. Survivors include three sons, John Casey, and William Todd and Terry John Jr.; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services for Aleigha Cheyenne HUNTER-KERR, an infant, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Gill Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, Ark. She died Thursday, April 24, 2008. Survivors include her parents, Wendell KERR and Alanna HUNTER of the home; one sister, Alissa Faye; maternal-grandparents, Lanny HUNTER and Debbie MARSHAL; paternal grandmother, Loretta KERR; great-grandparents, Mary HUNTER, Paul and Joyce CHRISTIE, Suzanne PHILLIS, Darrell and Pat PHILLIPS; and several aunts and uncles.

Mr. MURPHY was born June 27, 1951, in Redfork, to Emmanuel Don MURPHY Sr. and Louise Jane (ROTTHAMMER) MURPHY. He died Monday, April 28, 2008, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Wanda Marie FANN, Feb. 17, 1995, in Miami. Survivors include his wife, Wanda of the home; one daughter, Michelle Dawn; two grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph and William; and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services for Alma WALTERMIRE, 69, of Sallisaw, are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brushy Cemetery with the Rev. Vernon Stone officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. WALTERMIRE was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Alma, Ark., to Isaac GREGORY and Minnie (HUFF) GREGORY. She died Friday, April 25, 2008, in Sallisaw. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharla and Jose, and Carla and Thomas; six sons and two daughters-in-law, Carl, David, Ricky and Lisa, Gary, and Robert and Shawn and Brandi; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents.  

Funeral services for Mason K. WILLET, 61, of Muldrow, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith, Ark. Burial was in Leard Cemetery, in Pocola, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mr. WILLET died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in Muldrow. Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte; one son, Bryant; three sisters, Barbara, Catherine and Bonnie; two brothers, Dean and Clives; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Burial is in Dustin Cemetery, under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau. Mrs. BROWN was born June 6, 1946, in Red Oak, to Rev. Louis Edward "Buster" and Beatrice Irene DAVIDSON. She died Saturday, April 24, 2008, in Bad Tolz, Germany. Survivors include her husband, Ken BROWN of Sallisaw; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rod and Juleah, and Chad and Sarah; step-daughter Desire; sister, Diana and Kenny; five grandchildren; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carl Fugett officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland. Mrs. Green was born June 28, 1919, in Paw Paw, to Oce CHERRY and Jeanette Mariah (SCOTT) CHERRY. She died Thursday, May 1, 2008, in Fort Smith. She married Albert Oliver GREEN, Dec. 24, 1938, in Muldrow. He preceded her in death, April 2, 1984, in Fort Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Jeannette and Vickie Rae; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mildred, Bernice, and Norma Jo and Alta Mae; two brothers, W. O. and J. T.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Brenda HOMOTOFF and one grandson, Daniel HOMOTOFF.

Funeral services for Mildred A. HUNTER, 89, of Fort Smith, Ark., were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, in Midland, Ark., under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mrs. HUNTER died Wednesday, April 28, 2008, in Fort Smith. Survivors include three daughters, Wilma, Joyce and Lois; four sons, Thomas, David, Richard, and Jimmy; four sisters, Ann, Jewell, Opal and Sue; two brothers, Jerry and James; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. HUNTER.

Cecil MALONE, 83, of Muldrow, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Muldrow. No formal service is planned and cremation is under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. MALONE was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Dallas, to Oscar MALONE and Valerie (FINDLEY) MALONE. He married Maude LAGGURRE, April 1972, in Oakland, Calif. She preceded him in death in 1992. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia, Valerie and Cecilia; one son, Gary; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Graveside services for Marcella RAUCH, 90, of Fort Smith, Ark., will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith. Mrs. RAUCH was born July 15, 1917, in Kansas City, Mo., to Frank P. and Dr. Anne G. HEDGES. She died Thursday, May 1, 2008, in Fort Smith. She married Ralph RAUCH, Oct. 7, 1943, in Kansas City. Survivors include her husband, of Fort Smith; two daughters, Roberta and her husband, Dan, and Rev. Marilyn; one brother, Charles A.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for the Rev. Leroy REID, 70, of Marble City, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Blunt Baptist Church, north of Sallisaw, with Mr. Les Reid and family officiating. Burial was in Dwight Mission Cemetery, northwest of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Rev. REID was born Aug. 11, 1937, in Marble City, to the Rev. Monroe Moody REID and Jewel Violet (CONLEY) REID. He died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Sallisaw. He married Freddie Mae BALLARD, May 24, 1957, in Marble City. Survivors include his wife, Freddie of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Rene' and Steve; three sons and daughters-in-law, Leroy Monroe and Sherree, Leslie Claud and Lyn, and Glen Wayne and Lindsey; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Leota; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She died Friday, May 2, 2008, in Gore. She married William O. ARMSTONG, April 12, 1963, in Tyler, Texas. Survivors include her husband, William O. ARMSTONG of the home; children, Pat and David, Shirley and Malcolm, Marion and Earl Sr., Kim and Jimmy, Cindy and Joe, Tami and Glen; mother; brother, Bill and Shirley; sister, Mary Ann and Bill; brother-in-law, Jay; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He married Sheila Gayle RISENHOOVER, April 24, 2004, in Fort Smith. No formal services were planned, and cremation was under the direction of Ferrara Colonial Mortuary of Orange. He was born in Oklahoma City to Iva (FOSTER) and Jim BENGE. Survivors include one daughter, Lisa; one son, Greg; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one sister, Betty and her husband, Noble; one brother, Bill and his wife, Vivian; and many nieces and nephews.

She died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in Tulsa. She married Julius M. SMITH, Oct. 17, 1942, in Sallisaw. He preceded her in death, June 2, 1974, in Tulsa. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim V. and Ginny; one sister, Eweldane; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters and her very special aunt, Sis.

Mr. VAILLANCOURT was born Oct. 17, 1958, in Winchendon, Mass. He died Monday, May 5, 2008, in Roland. Burial was in Spiro City Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro. Mrs. SHAW was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Shady Point, to James SHELTON and Losie Jane (ANDERSON) SHELTON. She died Thursday, May 22, 2008, in Pocola. Survivors include four daughters, Debbie, Karen, Sue and Diane; one son, Oran; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth SHAW, one son, Larry BOWDEN and her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Kenneth DICKENS Sr., 70, of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Papa's Garden with Pastor Robert Polvado officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. DICKENS was born July 23, 1937, in Russellville, Ark., to Connie DICKENS and Ruby (MOORE) DICKENS. He died Saturday, May 24, 2008, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Doris June PRUITT, Dec. 7, 1957, in Reno, Nev.  Survivors include his wife, Doris of the home; two daughters, Terry and Regina; one son, Kenneth Jr.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; four sisters, Linda, Betty, Dorothy and Judy; and five brothers, Micky, Tommy, Billy, Jimmy and Jerry . He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services for Richard GOULD, 62, of Muldrow, are being held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Blackjack Cemetery, north of Muldrow, with the Rev. Anthony Williams officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. GOULD was born June 16, 1945, in Winfield, Kan., to Stanley GOULD and Helen Leona (PARKER) HENDRIX. He died Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Fredia Alene PETREE, March 22, 1975, in Arlington, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Fredia of the home; one daughter, Amber; three grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ole; and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John GOULD.

Funeral services for Richard Bryan "R.B." HOWARD Sr., 63, of East End, Ark., are being held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Lorance Drive Church of Christ at East End with Bro. A.J. Arnold officiating. Burial is in Salem Cemetery, in East End, under the direction of Memorial Gardens Funeral Home of Sheridan. Mr. HOWARD was born Aug. 6, 1944, to Oscar and Wanda Marie (O'NEILL) HOWARD. He died Monday, May 26, 2008, in St. Vincent North Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Carol Marie HUNTER HOWARD of East End; son, Richard Jr. and fianc', Natasha; daughters, Karen, Kathy, Karla, Kristi, Kimberly and Paula; brother, Bob and wife, Macey; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Martha Bea JOHNSON, 66, of Meers, were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Cache Schools Auditorium with the Rev. James Pritchard officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Becker Funeral Home, Inc. of Lawton. Mrs. JOHNSON was born Dec. 19, 1941, in Tulsa, to Gene C. and Beatrice (SCRIBNER) ROOP. She died Sunday, April 30, 2008, in Meers. She married Sam H. JOHNSON, Oct. 20, 1962, in Newcastle. Survivors include her husband, Sam of the home; her father, Gene ROOP ; three sons, Logan and his wife, Kim, Gregg and Clay; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Suzi; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Holly Beth JOHNSON and her mother, Bea SCRIBNER WELLS.

Jerry Bromley officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. KEITH was born May 17, 1959, in Whittier, Calif., to James William KEITH and Joann (ROSE) KEITH. He died Thursday, May 22, 2008, in Grove. Survivors include one daughter, Alicyn Joann; one son, James David; two step-children, Tasha and Jeremy; one sister, Jackie; one brother, Mike; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jimmy Dale KEITH.

Funeral services for Jack W. O'NEIL, 84, of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw with the Rev. Steve Rutherford officiating. Burial was in Oak Cemetery, in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. O'NEIL was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Fort Smith, to Shannon O'NEIL and Francis (WINSTEL) O'NEIL. He died Saturday, May 24, 2008, in Sallisaw. He married Mary Ruth YOUNG, June 28, 1957, in Fort Smith. She preceded him in death, Dec. 28, 1998, in Sallisaw. Survivors include one daughter, Linda; one son, Jack and his wife, Lenita; three grandsons; two sisters, Peggy and Billye; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Emma Sue KOBEL SAWALLISCH, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at the United Methodist Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City. Following the services burial was at 3 p.m. in the Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors. Mrs. SAWALLISCH was born Aug. 31, 1913, to Raleigh and Corrie (WHEELER) KOBEL in Sallisaw. She died Thursday, May 22, 2008 in Oklahoma City. Survivors include, her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Allen M.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; former son-in-law Ben; step-daughters Jan and Judy and their families; and special caregivers Tina, Willie Mae and Nona.

Funeral services for James Robert STEELE, 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Seaside Funeral Home with Senior Associate Pastor Gloria Lear officiating. Burial was in Quattlebaum Cemetery, in Bee Branch, Ark., with Pastor Vaughn Marsdon officiating, under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Ark. Mr. STEELE was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Berlin, to Thomas and Vernita (STALEY) STEELE. He died Sunday, May 18, 2008. He married Erma B. McKNIGHT in Arkansas.  Survivors include his wife, of 61 years, Erma B. STEELE; one daughter, Dr. Martha and her husband, Henry; daughter-in-law, LeAnn; six grandsons; brother, Sydney and his wife, Doris; and sister, Elizabeth and her husband, Martin. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas M. STEELE and his sister, Ruth LAWRENCE.

Funeral services for Calvin WELCH, 44, of Fort Smith, Ark., were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Cavanaugh United Methodist Church. Burial was in Gill Cemetery, in Van Buren, Ark., under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith. Mr. WELCH was born July 21, 1963, in Fort Smith. He died Thursday, May 22, 2008, in a local hospital. Survivors include his wife, Twana; one daughter, Krisangela; one son, Christopher WELCH of the home; two sisters, Edna and Sybil; two brothers, Coyd and Gary.
