Private family memorial services for Alvie Jean AHMED, 50, of Fort Smith, Ark., will be held at a later date, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith, Ark. Mrs. AHMED died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, in Fort Smith. Mrs. AHMED was a homemaker. Survivors include her companion, Edward; two daughters, Barbara and Natasha; one son, Adeel; six sisters, Rosie, Kathy, Barbara , Linda, Brenda and Wanda.
Funeral services for Sharon A. BARNES, 57, of Tulsa, formerly of Sallisaw, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw with the Rev. Norman Ledford, Roberta Fry-McGuire and Lisa LaTra officiating. Burial will be in Akins Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. She was born Aug. 10, 1951, in Fort Smith, Ark., to John Engle BARNES and Agnes Alline (SHEPARD) BARNES. She died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, in Tulsa. Survivors include Robbie; and several aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Libby ELKINS and her aunt, Gladys LEDFORD.
Carol J. BOOKOUT, 69, of Roland, died on Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, in Roland. No formal service is planned and cremation is under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. BOOKOUT was born June 5, 1939, in Watseka, Ill., to Arthur FRERICHS and Dorothy THRASHER. She married William A. BOOKOUT, March 28, 1958, in Gilman, Ill. Survivors include her husband, William of the home; two daughters, Beth and Rachel; two sons, Bruce and Kirk; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce and Donna; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and great-grandson.

Burial is in Greenwood Cemetery, in Eufaula, under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of Eufala. Mrs. BROWN was born Aug. 12, 1912, in Omaha, Ark., to Willis and Bertha DORRELL. She died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008. Survivors include one daughter, Kay; two sons and their wives, Mike and Cleata, and Johnny and Kathy; one brother, Billy J. and his wife, Mary; three sister-in-laws, Willie, and Della and Utha; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, Dyton BROWN, one brother, Lester DORRELL and his wife, Nell, of Fowler, Kan. and one sister, Opal NEWTON of Oregon, mother-in-law, Audrey BROWN, and one sister-in-law, Mary OWENS of Eufaula.

Mrs. Church was born March 4, 1947, in Okfuskee County, to James Marvin STAFFORD and Violet LENARD LILES. She died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Vian. She married Sidney CHURCH, Oct. 10, 1963, in Okemah. Survivors include her husband, Sid of the home; two daughters, Sheila and her husband, Lawrence, and Shawna and her husband, Blaine; one son, Sidney and his wife, Ericka; one step-daughter, Pamela Sue and her husband, Larry; two step-sons, Robert and Sidney; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marie and her husband, Frank, Verna, Frances and her husband, Fred and Martha; one brother, Jimmy; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in Vian. She married Glenn Burton "Burt" ELBON, July 3, 1962, in Stilwell. He preceded her in death, July 13, 2006, in Vian. Survivors include one son, Richard and his wife, Teresa; one daughter, Bertha and her husband, Kenny; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven brothers, Richard, Leon, Henry, Hank, George, Marvin and Roy; and three sisters, Rosie, Susie and Lora.

Troy Marino officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. REED was born March 12, 1921, in Hartman, Ark., to Rasa REED and Sylvania (HUBBARD) REED. He died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in Vian. He married Mattie Edna PETREE, Aug. 15, 1946, in Fort Smith, Ark. She preceded him in death, Nov. 13, 1995, in Fort Smith. Survivors include two sons, Danny and Jimmy; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

She married William Ted TABOR, Dec. 1, 1938, in Roland. He preceded her in death, Jan. 30, 2004, in Roland. Mr. FARGO was born June 13, 1925, in Muldrow, to Hugh Edward FARGO and Claudia Pearl (RAMEY) FARGO. He died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Myrl Lou HIXSON, June 29, 1946, in Fort Smith. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Myrl of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Nyla and Mike; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Ruth Ann; four grandsons; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Marcus and Edgar Dwain and one brother, Charles Franklin FARGO.

Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ann and Chuck, and Sharon Kay; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Joe and Phyllis, Thomas James and Carol, and Waylan Max and Virginia; one sister-in-law, Freda; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former students. He died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in Tulsa. He married Annabelle TOLES, June 16, 1956, in Tryon. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Annabelle of the home; two daughters, Myra and Ruth Ann; four sons, Charles, Frank, Dale and Gary ACKER; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy; two half-sisters, Zelma and Velma; one brother, O.L.; a most special friend of the Acker family for over forty years, Henry; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Virginia Irene (THOMAS) CALLISON passed away on September 9, 2008 in Gore, OK. She was born February 6, 1946 in Oildale, CA. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Pat CALLISON; parents Melvin and Dorothy THOMAS; brothers Dale and wife, Darlene; John and wife, Mary; sister Tera and Benny. Stepchildren: Tim and Melissa. Nieces and nephews: Raymond and Nick, Jim and Kim, Kameko, Ami, and Chad, Misty and Zack. She also had great-nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Arrangements are under the direction of Millsap Funeral Services. Funeral services will be on Sept 17th at 2:00 p.m., at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Chris Armer officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. SMITH was born May 5, 1986, in Tahlequah, to Richard Allen SMITH and Angela Kay (BRADLEY) SMITH SHAW. She died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, in Oklahoma City. Survivors include her companion, Daniel; mother and step-father, Angie and Ron SHAW; father and step-mother, Richard and Marilyn SMITH; one sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Travis; one brother, Kevin; two step-sisters, Kimberly and Michelle; four step-brothers, Colton, Jason, Shawn and Dustin; maternal grandmother, Barbara BRADLEY; paternal grandmother, LaVerne SMITH; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives including uncles, Don and John.
Funeral services for Pauline TACKETT, 86, of Bokoshe, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Poteau with Bros. Donald Cherry and Scott Martin officiating. Burial was in Old Bokoshe Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. TACKETT was born Dec. 9, 1921, in Panama, to William "Billy" THOMAS and Laura (WILES) THOMAS. She died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, in Bokoshe. She married Leslie Harlan "Chick" TACKETT, July 25, 1943, in Panama. He preceded her in death, June 15, 1989, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce and her husband, Coy, and Linda and her husband, Mike; two sons, James and his wife, Patsy, and Arthur and his companion, Pat; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Bertha, Ocie, Mary, Barbara and Eva Sue ; and one brother, Calvin. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Bobby TACKETT, one brother, Gerald THOMAS and three grandchildren, Connie TACKETT, Debbie MARTIN and Jeff TACKETT.

Burial is in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. TAYLOR was born July 21, 1929, in Muskogee, to Ira THRASHER and Gladys (LEWIS) THRASHER. She died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include two sons, Ricky Joe and Steve; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; one nephew; one niece; one great-niece; one great-nephew; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one sister, Colleen RISINGER.

Funeral services for Syble TURNER BARNES, 94, of Gans, were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church in Gans with the Revs. Harold McKeehen and Freddy Weaver officiating. Burial was in Blackjack Cemetery, northwest of Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mrs. BARNES was born Aug. 11, 1914, in Hartman, Ark., to Benjamin Franklin TURNER and Flora Belle (HAYS) TURNER. She died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in Fort Smith, Ark. She married Charles Clifton BARNES, June 23, 1934, in Bradford, Ark. He preceded her in death, Feb. 13, 1980, in Fort Smith. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Donald; four sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Lela, Johnny and Martha, and Nolan and Enzel, and Clifton and Juanita; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Leona BARNES, two sons, Dawson and Billy Lee BARNES, two grandchildren, Michael Curtis BARNES and Joyce Vian BARNES, one great-grandchild, Paisley Dawn BIGGS, one sister, Martha COLLINS and four brothers, Dan, Vernon, Eugene and Cecil TURNER.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie BERRY.

Vernon Stone officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. HARKEY was born Feb. 4, 1918, in London, Ark., to J.R. TILLMAN and Dorothy PLESS. She died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in Tulsa. She married Ray HARKEY, Jan. 6, 1940, in Paris, Ark. He preceded her in death, May 10, 1986, in Sallisaw. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Dot, and Martha and Gary; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
Memorial services for Robert Allen HARTMAN, 78, of Muldrow, were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mr. HARTMAN died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of the home; his children, Robert, Theresa, Laura, Steven, David, Gena, Tony and Tammy ; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, James Selby THOMASON; her daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Harold; her brothers, Boyce, Joe Henry and Jimmy; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight nieces; one nephew; numerous cousins; and her special friends, brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Pat THOMASON. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Ben, two sisters, Addie and Ethel, and all her aunt's and uncle's.
