Funeral services for Donald "Duck" Dewayne CHRISTIE, 60, of Cookson, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Talking Leaves Job Corp Gym in Tahlequah. Burial was in Hungry Mountain Cemetery, under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Mr. CHRISTIE was born July 24, 1949, in Tahlequah, to Charlie Coonie and Mildred (TURNER) CHRISTIE. He died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, in Tulsa. Mr. CHRISTIE worked for The Cherokee Nation as a Vocational Counselor. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, catching snakes, visiting family and friends, especially the children. He was a big supporter of the Vian High School Football team. He was a member of the Carter Baptist Church. One of his favorite activities was bass fishing. Survivors include sons, Nathan CHRISTIE of Keys and Nick CHRISTIE of Vian; daughter, Michelle Renee of Edmond; grandchild, Christian TYLER of Tahlequah; five brothers, Charles CHRISTIE and his wife, Sue, of Sallisaw, Jerry CHRISTIE and his wife, Pam, of Keys, Mike CHRISTIE of Hungry Mountain, Kevin CHRISTIE and his wife Rita and Mark CHRISTIE and his wife, Tricia, all of Stilwell; one sister, Dianne LONGSHORE and her husband, Micky, of Stilwell; and aunt, Elizabeth CALDWELL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jennie Lynn ROBERTSON CHRISTIE, 56, of Fort Smith, Ark., died on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in Fort Smith. No formal service is planned and cremation is under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. CHRISTIE was born Nov. 24, 1952, in Marble City, to Watie C. ROBERTSON and Kate (DOUGHERTY) ROBERTSON. She died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in Fort Smith. Mrs. CHRISTIE was a business woman and a graduate of Vian High School. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Marla CHRISTIE of Roland and Jill Monroe CHRISTIE of Flute Springs; five grandchildren, Ariel CHRISTIE, Anthony RHODEN, Jay CHRISTIE, Mikael STEELEY and Kaitlyn STEELEY; five sisters, Peggy BROWN of Manford, Oleta BARRETT of Akins, Olene RUSSELL of Claremore, Judy SHARP of Holy Hill, Fla. and Kim WILLIAMS of Wagoner; three brothers, Bob ROBERTSON of Vian, Tony ROBERTSON of Lafayette, La. and Jerry Ben ROBERTSON of Dwight Mission; special friend, Monroe CHRISTIE of Sallisaw; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Evelyn JONES McCLENDON, 58, of Fort Smith, Ark., are being held Thursday at the New Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Jones officiating. Graveside services for Peggy Ruth HEFLEBOWER, 83, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler. Mrs. HEFLEBOWER was born March 23, 1926, in Midwest City, to Fred COLEMAN and Minnie CRAIG. She died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, in Vian. Mrs. HEFLEBOWER was an aircraft clerk. Survivors include one daughter, Judie CROISANT; one son, Craig HEFLEBOWER; one grandchild, Tracy CROISANT and his wife, Kim, of Justin, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Johnny TAYLOR and his wife, Amy, of Denton, Texas, Amber, Tristen and Jayna CROISANT, Cooper CLOKE and their parents, Dana and Scott CLOKE of Yukon; three great-great-grandchildren, Layla, John Jr. and Gavin TAYLOR; two sisters; and four brothers. Mrs. MOSS was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Vian, to James Taylor BENNETT and Edna Alice (FULLER) BENNETT. She died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, in Sallisaw. Mrs. MOSS was a homemaker and a member of the Vian Baptist Church. She married James Raymond MOSS, May 16, 1942, in Sallisaw. Survivors include her husband, Raymond MOSS of the home; one daughter, Ramona SHEFFELD of Fort Gibson; three grandchildren, James R. WAGNER of Fort Gibson, Dr. Rachel LeAnn and her husband, Nathan HERRINGTON and Sara Jane and her husband, Ethan FORHETZ, all of Springfield, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Chloe WAGNER and Caroline Grace FORHETZ; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mr. SEQUICHIE was born Aug. 4, 1969, in Claremore, to Johnny Lee SEQUICHIE Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (BRUCE) Sequichie. He died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, in Vian. Mr. SEQUICHIE was a security guard for Special Event Services. He was known as "Uncle Fat Cat". Burial was in Prairie Haven Memorial Park, in Hobbs, under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home of Hobbs. Mrs. TAYLOR was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Gans, to Wasco and Bertha (LOWE) PERRY. She died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, in Hobbs. Mrs. TAYLOR enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and reading but she mainly enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a member of the First Holiness Church of Eunice. She married Curtis TAYLOR, May 30, 1937, in Bluff. He preceded her in death in 2005. Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn PETTIT of Bakerfield, Calif., June LOVE of Keller, Texas, Peggy STEVENSON and her husband, Bob, of Hobbs and Floy ANDERSON and her husband, Troy, of Sapulpa; twin sister, Ruby TAYLOR of Marble City; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, three sisters, one grandson, Richard Eugene PETTIT Jr. and sons-in-law, Richard PETTIT Sr. and Bob LOVE Sr.

Don Rogers officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland. Mr. TOUNZEN was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Muldrow, to Thomas TOUNZEN and Syvella Mae (ROGERS) TOUNZEN. He died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, in Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. TOUNZEN was a factory worker and of the Baptist faith. He married Joie Edna KRUMSIEK, June 18, 1971, in Stilwell. Survivors include his wife, Joie of the home; five sons, Bill BURROWS of Gans, Gay WEST of Roland, J.R. WEST of Houston, Texas, Barry WEST of Roland and Mickey WEST of Coweta; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services for Patricia Sue BEGLEY, 68, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Akins Cemetery with Isaac Slape officiating, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. BEGLEY was born March 4, 1941, in Claremore, to Carl ENGLAND and Irene COLLINS. She died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, in Claremore. Mrs. BEGLEY was a homemaker and a life time member of Melody Land Christian Center in Anaheim, Calif. Survivors include her husband, Clinton BEGLEY of the home; one daughter, Tawalah and her husband, Don HOVATER of Yorba Linda, Calif.; three sons, Trent BEGLEY of Lancaster, Pa., Todd BEGLEY and his wife, Jennifer, of Tahlequah and Travis BEGLEY and his wife, Adriane, of Clayton, N.C.; one sister, Melva KNIGHT of Claremore; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Billy, Ronnie and Carl ENGLAND.

Graveside services for Hoover WARREN, 81, of Oklahoma City, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Resthaven of Oklahoma City. Mr. WARREN was born April 12, 1928, in Vian, to Peter and Ola (MUNSEY) WARREN. He died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, in Oklahoma City. Mr. WARREN served his country in the U.S. Army and was a construction foreman in the concrete paving industry until he was 70 years old. He enjoyed being with his family. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; one son, Martin WARREN of Oklahoma City; step-children, Donna KETCHERSIDE, Douglas CAPPS and Renee PENCE all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Lewis WARREN of Gore; three sisters, Doris McGREW and her husband, Junior, of Benicia, Calif., Berlie CARRILLO and her husband, Felix and Mary PACK and her husband, Kenneth all of Vian; seven grandchildren; and five great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Mark and Darryl, five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services for Cheatum Franklin "Frankie" ADAMS, 50, of Webbers Falls, are being held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Danny Barks and Wendell Cox officiating. Burial is in Fields Cemetery, in Porum, under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls. Mr. ADAMS was born March 20, 1959, in Tulsa, to Edmond and Marline (PUCKETT) ADAMS. He died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, in Webbers Falls. Mr. ADAMS graduated from Webbers Falls High School. He was a machine operator for a box manufacturer. He married Debbie PURDOM, March 23, 1984, in Webbers Falls. Survivors include his wife, Debbie ADAMS of the home; two daughters, Misty and Danny EICHLING and Ashley ADAMS all of Webbers Falls; two sisters, Judy and Aaron MILLER and Roberta and Elza SMITH, all of Webbers Falls; brother, Samuel and Melissa ADAMS of Haskell; and five grandchildren. Funeral services for Charles Willard DOBBS, 85, of Gore, are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah with the Rev. Wilson Peace officiating. Burial is in Morse Cemetery, north of Okemah, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah. Mr. DOBBS was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Stuttgart, Ark., to Charles Henry and Mae Elizabeth (BARNHART) DOBBS. He died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, in Gore. Mr. DOBBS had been a longtime resident of the Tenkiller Lake area. He was a retired truck driver having driven for more than 50 years. He drove for Kroger and in 1980 retired from Time D.C. after 35 years of employment. He was a member of the Teamster Union, the American Legion of Tahlequah and also a member of the VFW. He was also a highly decorated war veteran. He served as a master sergeant with the U.S. Army during World War II and later during the Korean War. He was one of only 13 soldiers that survived the battle of Okinawa and participated in the flag rising on the island. He was a recipient of numerous military honors including a Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Medal and also two Purple Hearts. He received a plaque for his service to his country where many dignitaries were present to honor him. He was a founding member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Russellville, Ark. and was a member of the Keys Church of God in Parkhill. He enjoyed making radio controlled airplanes, leatherwork and woodworking. He also enjoyed animals especially, Bruno, Ginger, Ethel, Ugly and a monkey named Bill. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. He married Wilma Lucille KENNEDA, June 16, 1964, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Wilma DOBBS of Gore; two sons, Randy Thomas DOBBS and Keith DOBBS and his wife, Lynn, all of Russellville, Ark.; one daughter, Rhonda Kay SIGLE and her husband, Lynn, of Dardanelle, Ark.; three sisters, Linda Mae MORRIS, Joyce KEETON and June BURROW; and two grandchildren, Angela Deann SIGLE and Austin DOBBS. Mrs. FAULKNER was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Sallisaw, to Jack Wayne WEBB and Blanche (PALMER) WEBB. She died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, in Sallisaw. Mrs. FAULKNER was a homemaker and a member of the Apostolic Faith Church. She married Owen 'Bill' FAULKNER, Aug. 17, 1934, in Sallisaw. He preceded her in death, Dec. 17, 1980, in Wichita, Kan. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy FAULKNER of Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Wilma LONG of Wichita, Kan. and Virginia and Alvin BREWER of Sallisaw; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Bob PAYNE of Tulsa. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services for James G. HOPE, 77, of Sallisaw, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Sallisaw with the Rev. Brian Zinck officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. HOPE was born July 2, 1932, in Booneville, Ark., to James Daniel HOPE and Pernie (JENKINS) HOPE. He died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, in Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. HOPE was a retired industrial aircraft engineer for Boeing Aircraft and an engineer at Holley Carburetor. He served in the Army 180th Infantry, 45th Division in Korea. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a 50 plus year member of the Masonic Lodge in Tulsa, a 50 plus year member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion Post 27. He helped on the Apollo space project. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sallisaw. He married Peggy Ailene BATES, May 2, 1953, in Tulsa. Survivors include his wife, Peggy of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Jami and Greg CALLAHAN of Fort Smith; two granddaughters, Courtney Hope CALLAHAN of Rogers, Ark. and Christa Lea CALLAHAN of Fort Smith; two great-grandchildren, Caden and Camden CALLAHAN; one sister, Aline LOGAN of Poteau; one brother, Andrew HOPE of Tulsa; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Arline HOPE BURDEN and two brothers, J.D. and William Hayward HOPE. Funeral services for Ricky Steven SABLE, 53, of Sallisaw, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas, under the direction of Crowder Funeral home of Pearland. Mr. Sable died Monday, Aug. 14, 2009. Mr. SABLE served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy, was a skilled carpenter and adept chef and enjoyed planes and being near water. Survivors include his daughter, Angela SHIPWASH, her husband, Jeff, and their daughter, Adyson; two brothers, Terry SABLE and Jim SABLE and his wife, Drew; and many nieces, nephews, friends and family. Mr. CASEY was born Nov. 6, 1959, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Harvey William CASEY and Flora Elizabeth (WEIXALBOM) CASEY. Mr. CASEY was an upholsterer at Green Country Furniture Factory. Survivors include two sisters, Diane MORTON of Stilwell and Betty FROST of Sallisaw; one brother, Roy CASEY of Tulsa; and several other relatives and friends. She died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, in Gore. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Joel, and Donna and John; five grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin BRIDGES, parents, one sister, Marie and two brothers, John and Frank.

Mr. MURPHY was born April 4, 1931, in Lambert, to Montell Leonard MURPHY and Maude Opal (GOODWIN) MURPHY. He died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, in Vian. He married Mary Louise BAILEY LANE, July 5, 1981, in Fort Supply. Burial was in Cottonwood Cemetery, south of Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. EDWARDS was born Aug. 4, 1955, in Sallisaw, to William Earl EDWARDS and Edna Ruth VANN. He died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, in Muldrow. He married Marie PHILPOTT, April 6, 1984, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife, Marie EDWARDS of the home; two daughters, Krystal Jo and Sonya Diann; one grandchild; three sisters, Sharon Kay, and Willene and Charletta; mother, Edna Ruth VANN and step-father, Dayton; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Private family services were held for Mike FRIX, on Friday, September 11, 2009 at their residence. Dale Bickle sang his favorite song, "Amazing Grace" and Conrad Barrett gave the eulogy. Mike was born in Stigler, OK, October 19, 1926 to Carl and Edith FRIX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl FRIX, Sr., Edith FRIX and his daughter, Dawn FRIX. Arlene Dee CHAMBERS, 68, of Vian, died on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in Vian. No formal service is planned and her body was donated to science at the University of Oklahoma Health and Science Center in Oklahoma City. Mrs. CHAMBERS was born March 16, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Charlie and Eva CANTRELL. Survivors include one son, Kevin W.; two brothers, Rick and Gary; and two sisters, Shirley and Vicki. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard G. CHAMBERS and one sister, Phyllis SCHAFER.
