Graveside services for JoAnn Meredith BATES, 66, of Sallisaw are being held at 10 a.m Saturday at Brushy Cemetery, north of Sallisaw, with the Rev. Mary Whitaker officiating. Mrs. BATES was born April 21, 1934, in Purvis, Miss., to Albert and Connie (SMITH) BOONE. She died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Sallisaw. She married Louis Holland BATES in 1950 in Meridian, Miss. He preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2000. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Tom; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Debby; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Bea, Jeanie, Sue, Ruby, Margaret and Larice; two brothers, Larry and Monroe; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Funeral services for Carl Gene "Snowball" CONNER, 71, of Roland will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Ark. Burial will be in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel. Mr. CONNER died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in a local hospital. Survivors include his wife Mable of the home; three daughters, Carolyn, Clara Jean and Carol ; one son, Michael; one brother, Earl Pete; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Amos Y. DOLLAR, 91, of Sallisaw will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw, with the Rev. Rodney Roberson officiating. Burial is in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. DOLLAR was born Aug. 10, 1909, in Judsonia, Ark., to Joseph Yondel DOLLAR and Katherine Pauline (Hettie) DOLLAR. He died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in Sallisaw. He married Vera Bell DOLLAR Dec. 1, 1929, in Sallisaw. She preceded him in death March 6, 1998. Survivors include three sons, Robert Joseph, Tom, and Jim; one daughter, Mary Jane; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Zigmund "Ziggy" GIZA, 79, of Sallisaw were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sallisaw with the Rev. Jeff Polasek officiating. Burial was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. GIZA was born April 25, 1921, in Hamtramck, Mich., to Teofil and Katherine (KOZMA) GIZA. He died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, in Muskogee. Survivors include his caregiver, Debbie; and one sister, Martha.

Funeral services for James Dale "Jim" MATTHEWS, 45, of San Diego, formerly of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Agent Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial was in Fleetwood Cemetery, east of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. MATTHEWS was born Nov. 13, 1954, in Sallisaw, to Troy Golden MATTHEWS and Vera Mae (STEELE) MATTHEWS. He died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at his home.  Survivors include six sisters, Jean, Norma Sue, Pat, Darlene, Kay,  and Nelda; five brothers, R.E. Jr., Carl, Kenny, Sam and Troy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Clyde PARSONS Jr. were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw with the Revs. Vernon Smith and Garland Hobbs officiating. Burial was in Fleetwood Cemetery east of Sallisaw. Mr. PARSONS  was born Dec. 5, 1933, in Arapaho, to Clyde PARSONS Sr. and Lilliam Laura (RANDOLPH) PARSONS. He died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. One son, Stephen  Randolph PARSONS preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1977. He married Helen Faye MARRS Nov. 22, 1954, in Sallisaw. Survivors include three daughters, Kelly, Kathryn Marie and Stacey Danine; one son-in-law, Jeffry Scott Sr.; two grandsons; one brother, Doug; one sister Maudene;and one half-brother, Kenneth. Mr. PARSONS was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe Carley PARSONS and William Bryce PARSONS; and two sisters, Pet PARSONS and Mable PARSONS.

Funeral services for Tony SHANKS, 29, of Gore were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Webbers Falls with the Revs. Jean Rozell and Glen Cox officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service in Webbers Falls. Mr. SHANKS was born Dec. 19, 1970, in Canton, Ohio, to Dale and Debbie (MOORE) SHANKS. He died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000. Survivors include his parents, Dale and Debbie SHANKS; one sister, Misty Dale; one brother, James Elliot; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  Mr. SHANKS was preceded in death by his grandparents, Merl and Stella SHANKS and Arthur and Eva MOORE.

Funeral services for Clyde Lee TEHEE, 65, of Muldrow are being held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Belfonte Baptist Church, with the Rev. Martin Cochran officiating. Burial is in Belfonte Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow. Mr. TEHEE  was born March 16, 1935, in Adair County, to Charlie TEHEE and Peggy (STEPP) MARRS. He died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Bernice EAGLE in 1962 in Adair County. She preceded him in death Dec. 12, 1995. Survivors include one niece, Christine; two nephews, Jamie and Shane; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for LaDonna Ann WILLIAMS, 32, of Muldrow were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Upper Camp Creek Cemetery, northeast of Muldrow, with the Revs. Steve Gray and Carl Williams officiating. Mrs. WILLIAMS was born April 20, 1968, in Seminole, to J.C. and Ola Adell (REED) COULTER. She died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at her home. She married Dean WILLIAMS June 24, 1994, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include her husband, Dean WILLIAMS of the home; three sons, Michael, Corey and Dustin; her mother, Ola COULTER; three sisters, P.J., Ola and Lisa; and four brothers, Mark, J.C., Henry, and Jerry. Arrangements were under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow.

Mrs. HAGGARD was born June 19, 1941, in Sallisaw, to Harrell Owen BURNS and Mary Mildred (SHEPHERD) BURNS. She died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Sallisaw.  She married Donald Ed HAGGARD June 19, 1969, in Bowie County, Texas. Survivors include her husband, Donald Ed HAGGARD of the home; one son, William Harrell; one sister, Rhonda; one brother, Danny; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Arrangements were under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Funeral services for Rosemary JACKSON, 80, of Kosoma-Moyers community were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Moyers Baptist Church in Moyers. Burial was in Kosoma Cemetery, under the direction of Clayton Funeral Homes Inc. in Clayton. Mrs. JACKSON was born July 25, 1920, in Kansas City, Mo., to Cordelia "Dutch" EMERY MILLER and Kenneth MILLER . She died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in Sallisaw. She married William "Bunk" JACKSON June 23, 1941, in Finley. He preceded her in death. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cherri and Donald; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Teresa; three grandsons; three great-grandsons; and one sister Helen.  Mrs. JACKSON was also preceded in death by one son, Willie JACKSON and her parents.

Graveside services for Floyd F. PETERS Jr., 70, of Sallisaw were held at 1 p.m. Friday at Akins Cemetery, northeast of Sallisaw, with the Rev. Connie D. Cariker officiating. Mr. PETERS was born Oct. 12, 1929, in New Hope to Floyd F. PETERS Sr. and Asia TAYLOR. He died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in Sallisaw. Survivors include special friend, Betty; aunt, Nancy; cousin, Betty Jean; one brother, Billy Joe; two half-brothers, Muriel Glen and James Ralph; and numerous aunts, cousins and other relatives.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Alice Faye (STRICKLEN) POSEY, 42, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, in a Van Buren, Ark. nursing home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Smith, with the Rev. James D. Jones officiating. Burial was in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary in Fort Smith. Mrs. POSEY was born Feb. 2, 1958, in Conway, Ark., to Charlie and Emily STRICKLEN. She married James Edward "Ed" POSEY June 1979. Survivors include her husband, James Edward "Ed" POSEY of Fort Smith; four children, Aleta, Tamala, James Edward II, and James K.; her father, Charlie STRICKLEN; five sisters, Minnie, Debbie, Ruth, Charline and Gloria; four brothers, David, Johnnie, Larry, and Sylvester; and three grandchildren. Mrs. POSEY was preceded in death by her mother.

Ruth (GLEASON) BERGQUIST, 87, of Sallisaw, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in Sallisaw. She was born July 5, 1913, in Omaha, Neb., to Phillip Dean GLEASON and Sadie (KERR) GLEASON. Services will be held at a later date in Oceanside, Calif. Cremation was under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. She married Arden L. BERGQUIST July 20, 1935, in Papillion, Neb. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1972. Survivors include three sons, Arden L. Jr., Jon E., and Barry; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty; one brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Edith; three nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for William "Bill" BOLIN Jr., 77, of Vian were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, with the Rev. Mike McConnell officiating. Mr. BOLIN was born May 28, 1923, in Marble City, to William BOLIN Sr. and Sadie (McCOY) BOLIN. He died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at his home. He married Annie JAMES April 28, 1951, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Annie BOLIN of the home; one daughter, Felecia Gail; two sons, Larry Dale and Samuel Martin; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Birdie. Mr. BOLIN was preceded in death by two sons, William Lee BOLIN and Bobby Ray BOLIN; one brother, George BOLIN; and one sister, Nan WALKINGSTICK. Arrangements  were under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Funeral services for Virgie G. EDGMON, 70, of Wichita, Kan., were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 30, 2000, at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel in Wichita. Burial was in Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Wichita, under the direction of Resthaven Mortuary. Mr. EDGMON was born Aug. 17, 1930, in McKey, to Frank R. EDGMON and Bertha M. (BELL) EDGMON. He died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his home. Survivors include his wife, Colleen of the home; two sons, Darel and Dane; two daughters, Elona and Leisa; two brothers, Cecil and Roy; one sister, Flora; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lillian B. FLANAGAN, 83, of Nicut were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Copic Missionary Baptist Church in Nicut, with the Revs. Wayne Efurd and Floyd Kester officiating. Burial was in Seabolt Cemetery, north of Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow. Mrs. FLANAGAN was born Jan. 9, 1917, in Nicut to Levi D. SEABOLT and Bessie (MOTEN) SEABOLT. She died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, O.C. Jr. and Lois; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna Sue and Merrill, Patricia Lou and the late Dewey Ed, and Glenda Ellen and Mackie; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Mrs. FLANAGAN was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dewey Ed MARTIN.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. GRIFFEY was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Roll, to James Leroy GRIFFEY and Melina Della (DOWNEY) GRIFFEY. He died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in Broken Arrow. He married Flora MOONEYHAM Dec. 22, 1937, in Okema. She preceded him in death Oct. 17, 1980. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Carol; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank; and three sisters, Nona Mae, Dessie and Nellie.

Ruby Marie (MAYNER) GROBER, 83, of Dripping Springs, Texas, formerly of Fort Smith, Ark., and Van Buren, Ark., died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in Dripping Springs. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith. Burial is in Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Fentress Mortuary. Mrs. GROBER was born Sept. 1, 1917, near Ozark, Ark., to Artnie and Martha Lauvina (DRIVER) MAYNER. Survivors include her husband, David E. GROBER of Dripping Springs; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerry A. and Cheryl and Edward A. and Kathy; one stepdaughter, Karen and husband, Curtis; two stepsons, Jerry Ned and wife, Wilma, and David F. and wife, Sally; one brother, Alfred; one half-brother, Joe; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six nieces and three nephews.

Funeral services for Dallas JONES, 78, of Nicut are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Copic Baptist Church, with the Rev. Junior Kester officiating. Burial is in Seabolt Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 27, supported by American Legion post 27 and VFW Post 4518 and DAV Chapter 83. Mr. JONES was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Porum, to Harve and Susie (LIVERS) JONES. He died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include two daughters, Susie and Judy; four sons, Tony, Jackie, Dallas Jr. and Stacy; five sisters, Evelyn, Janet, Margaret, Louise, and Phyllis; four brothers, Reese, Tom, Jerry Paul,  and James; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. JONES was preceded in death by his wife, Alleen (NELSON) JONES on Nov. 22, 1985.

Rose Marie PENAFLOR, 51, of Gore died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. Memorial services are being held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Webbers Falls, with the Rev. Jeff Polasek officiating. She was born July 2, 1949, in Santa Ana, Calif., to Yrineo R. PENAFLOR and Margaret TRIGEROS ROA.. Survivors include her father, Yrineo; one sister, Marie; one brother Simon; two nieces, three nephews; Cremation was under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Funeral services for Leatrice Alta Robertson HAMMETT ROWE will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the Harvest Time Church in Blackgum, Brother Chris Armer officiating, interment will be at the Box Cemetery.  She  was born May 15, 1926, at Cookson, Oklahoma, to Frank Columbus ROBERTSON and Nellie Jane SWITZER ROBERTSON. She married Ola "Oley" B. HAMMETT on July 14, 1946 at Blackgum. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1991. She married Norman ROWE. Survivors include her husband, Norman of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Loren, five grand children; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Edna; a step-daughter, Beth and husband, Lewis;p three step-sons, Gary and wife Mary, Alan and Wife Rhonda, and Rick;several step-grandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.  Mrs. ROWE was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Ola HAMMETT, sisters Della HOLSTON, Nannie WILLIS, Modean FRITTS, Opal HOLMES and Cozette PRUITT, and brothers Rufus and Dwight ROBERTSON.

Graveside services for Johnny Lee SEQUICHIE, 59, of Tulsa, formerly of Vian, are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, with the Rev. Charles Young officiating. Mr. SEQUICHIE was born June 12, 1941, in Cherokee County, to Wilson and Margaret (YOUNG) SEQUICHIE. He died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in Tulsa. Survivors include one son, Johnny; his father, Wilson; four sisters, Dorothy, Betty, Dale and LaVaughn; two brothers, George and Kenneth; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Dotty STILLWELL, 62, of Clarksville, Ark., died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in a Clarksville, hospital. Funeral services are being held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville, under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville. Mrs. STILLWELL was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Tyronza, Ark., to Charles and Ola Mae (WHITE) WATSON. Survivors include her husband, Charles E. STILLWELL; one stepdaughter, Judy; three sons, Charles E. "Chuck", Danny and Jeff; one stepson, Phillip; two sisters, Betty and Sue; two brothers, Robert and Jerry;13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Burial was in Cottonwood Cemetery, south of Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow. Mrs. WALK was born  Oct 1, 1908, in Sequoyah County, to Henry Bascom CLICK and Hanna (LUTHER) CLICK. She died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at her home. She married Chauncy WALK Dec. 24, 1926, in Fort Smith, Ark. He preceded her in death in 1988. Survivors include three daughters, JoNell, Pat and Sandra; two sons, Joseph B. and Bobby G.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beulah and Betty. Mrs. WALK was preceded in death by five grandchildren, Pamela Sue, Gayle Marie, Craig Hart, Lisa Lenore and Michelle Lene.

Burial is in Long Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mrs. WHISENHUNT was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Van Buren, Ark., to James and Mary (MYERS) HOOVER. She died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, in Oklahoma City. Survivors include her husband Buster WHISENHUNT of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Everett; one brother, Gene; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Minnie Elizabeth WILLIAMS, 92, of Norman were held Tuesday at Bill Eisenhour Chapel in Del City. Burial was in Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Homes Inc. Mrs. WILLIAMS was born Feb. 26, 1908, in Brent to Calvin H. FITE and Phoebe Tennessee GRAGG. She died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at the Holiday Heights Nursing Home in Norman. She married Claude C. WILLIAMS. Survivors include two sisters, Letha and Joyce; one brother, Elva; 13 children, Alpha, Tellie, Jean, Geneva, Alice, Kenneth, Rayburn, Geraldine, Bernice, Dollie, Connie, J. Shelby, Miles; 45 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Mrs. WILLIAMS was preceded in death by three brothers; and four sisters.

Burial is in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mrs. CARLILE was born Dec. 9, 1910, in Castle, to Robert Walker ARMSTRONG and Margaret Jane (EDMUNDSON) ARMSTRONG. She died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, in Tulsa. Mrs. CARLILE married Paul Vore CARLILE Aug. 21, 1938, in Meeker. He preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1977 in Sallisaw. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Elaine and Randy; and one son and daughter-in-law, Paul Vore and Ruth; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Mrs. CARLILE was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ed ARMSTRONG and Clair ARMSTRONG.

Burial is in Reese Cemetery in Pea Vine, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. COOPER  was born May 29, 1951, in Independence, Mo., to Franklin Edward COOPER and Ethel Mae (ANDERSON) COOPER. He died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife, Angela (POWERS) COOPER of the home; two daughters, Jessie and Emma Jean; three sons, Buddy Gale Jr., Kevin Eugene and Michael Allen; three sisters, Louise, Shirley and Mary; two brothers, Frankie and Jim; his parents, Frank and Ethel; and numerous grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dorothy MARCHANT, 70, of Roland were  held at 10 a.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith, Ark. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Mrs. MARCHANT died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, in a local nursing home. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Jan; one son, Joe Weldon; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. MARCHANT was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Wesley MARCHANT.

Donavon James CORBETT, infant son of Treasa CORBETT of Sallisaw and Terry COY, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday at Akins Assembly of God Church, northeast of Sallisaw. Burial was in Akins Cemetery, northeast of Sallisaw, under the direction of Bradley Family Funeral Service in Muskogee. The infant was born July 3, 2000, in Tahlequah. Along with her parents he is survived by his brother, Malichi; grandparents, Billie and Jerry; Diana and Larry; and Sherry and Charles; great-grandparents, Lois and Lloyd and Frankie and Bill; great-grandmother, Wanda; great-great-grandmother, Larah; uncles, David, Josua, and Jeff; aunts, Stephanie, Serena, Rhonda, Keri Shannon, and Joyce and numerous cousins.   

Mary Jane FLUMERFELT, 74, of Sallisaw died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in Sallisaw.. Services will be held at a later date in Rochester, Mich., under  the direction of Huntoon Funeral Home in Oxford, Mich. Mrs. FLUMERFELT was born June 28, 1926, in Shiawassee County, Mich. to Henry L. AUGUSTINE and Vivian L. (KELLOGG) AUGUSTINE. She married John Crawford FLUMERFELT Dec. 1, 1951, in Wixom, Mich. He preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1999. Survivors include four brothers, Joseph, John, David, and Thomas A.; one sister, Lethone M. ; one sister-in-law, Nancy A.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. One son, Joseph FLUMERFELT, also preceded Mrs. FLUMERFELT in death in 1987.

Burial is in Pilgrims Rest in Newalla, under the direction of Baggerly Funeral Home. Mr. GIBBON was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Oklahoma city, to Bertie (RYE) GIBBON and Harry W. GIBBON. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Carol; one brother, Harry Joe; three sons, Johnnie Rye, Colt Carter, and David Aaron; one daughter Katherine Elizabeth "Ice"; and six grandchildren.

Burial was in Blackjack Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mrs. HARP was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Glenwood, Ark., to E.P. and Eva (WRIGHT) MATLOCK. She died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include her husband, Alva of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Ava; one brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Helen; two grandchildren;and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Phelix LINDSY,  72, of Spiro were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro, with the Rev. Jake Ritter officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Spiro. Mr. LINDSY was born June 17, 1928, in Buck Creek, near Spiro, to Thomas Franklin LINDSY and Nettie Mae (BATES) LINDSY. He died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, in Sprio. Mr. Lindsy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Thomas LINDSY and Herman Hallie LINDSY; and two sisters-in-law, Jean LINDSY and Mary ALLEN.  

Graveside service for Betty E. KING, 70, of Roland are being held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roland City Cemetery, with the Rev. Don Niblett officiating. Mrs. KING was born Nov. 27, 1929, in Chandler, to Jerry and Alice (NORTHROP) REED. She died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in Roland. She married Louis Edward KING July 7, 1950, in Fairfax. Survivors include her husband, Louis of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Vernon Carl, and Nancy and Perry and Debbie and Luther; one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Debbie; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen and JoAnn; and four brothers, Freddie, Howard, Jerry and Jack. Mr. COWENS was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Webbers Falls, to James Thomas COWENS and Mary Jane (McDONALD) COWENS. He died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at his home. Survivors include his children, Janice, James, and Allen, Vicki, and Billie; three sisters, Rosie, Ruby and Lily; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.  Mrs. COWENS was preceded in death by his wife, Ada COWENS on May 30, 1996. CHAMLEE and Fanny (HOUSE) CHAMLEE. She died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at her home. She died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in Sallisaw.  She married Raymond Edward THACKER June 9, 1984, in Vian. He preceded her in death Feb. 19, 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Flo Ann; two stepdaughters, Joyce and Sue; one son, John Earl; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Velma, June, K.T., Molene, Edna and Frankie; and one brother, Jay.

She married L.D. BOATRIGHT June 15, 1941, in Scott County, Ark. He preceded her in death. Mrs. CHISUM was born May 28, 1919, in Scottsville, Ark., to Enoch Riddley EASTER and Martha Anna (McCLURY) EASTER. She died Friday Sept. 22, 2000, in Gore. She married herbert Garlin CHISUM July 15, 1935, in Russellville, Ark. He preceded her in death Nov. 18, 1997. Survivors include three daughters, Annabelle, Peggy and Freeda and her husband, Howard; one sons, Sherbert Ray and his wife, Jan; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Edith. Mrs. CHISUM was preceded in death by one grandson, Robert POWERS; and 10 brothers and sisters.

She died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, in Duncan. She married Earnest Herbie COX July 22, 1931, in Gore. He preceded her in death Dec. 15, 1997. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Lou; one son, Jams Edward; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow. The U. S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Sill provided military honors. Mr. ELLIS was born Sept. 23, 1921, in South San Antonio, to Edwin Emuel ELLIS and Rachel Rossetta (LEE) ELLIS. He died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, in Muldrow.  He married Iva I. MORGAN Dec. 20, 1949, in San Antonio. Survivors include his wife, Iva ELLIS of the home; four sons, Richard, Randy, Roger and Russell; eight grandchildren; one brother, Sidney; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Twin grandchildren, Robert II and Rachel; and one brother, Chuck ELLIS in World War II, preceded Mr. ELLIS in death.

Burial was in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. VFW Post 4518, American Legion Post 27 and the DAV provided military honors. Mr. NIMMO was born July 4, 1921, in Sequoyah County, to Ernest Eddie NIMMO Sr. and Dora Melissa (HOOD) NIMMO. He died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Oda Mae PECK in Sequoyah County in 1962. She preceded him in death Dec. 31, 1996. Survivors include two sisters, Ann and Kay; four brothers, Joe, Jack, Tom and Max; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. One sister, Virginia "Jiggs" ROUSEY; and two brothers, Sonny NIMMO and Jess NIMMO preceded Mr. NIMMO in death.
