Mrs. Dovie Reed Passes Away
This community was shocked when it learned of the death of Mrs. Dovie J. Reed, wife of W. H. Reed, which occurred at the family home on North Eleventh Street at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, March 24. The cause of death was heart failure, deceased having been sick but 12 hours before she was called higher.
The funeral services were held at the residence at 11 o'clock Tuesday in charge of Rev. E. A. Bedicheck, a Christian minister, after which the remains were interred in the Frederick cemetery.
She was 27 years, two months and 27 days of age. She was born in Vernon Co., Missouri. She is survived by a husband and three children, Opaline, aged nine, and two boys, one aged four and the other a year and a half old. For the past few years the family had been residing southwest of Frederick and later moved to town where Mr. Reed engaged in the feed, grain and coal business.
A half sister of Mr. Reed's from Darlington was here for the funeral and has not yet returned.
Mr. Reed went to the home of his friend, D. A. Turner, immediately after the funeral, where one of his children lay sick, and has not yet returned and it is not known what his future plans are.
Seldom has the Enterprise chronicled so sudden a death, as when the paper was published last week she was still a resident of this place, but today she is laid to rest in the silent city. Sorrow prevailed all over our little city Sunday afternoon when the news of her passing away was whispered from one to another for her circle of friends numbered everyone with whom she was acquainted.
No family was ever more affectionate toward one another than this one and the memory of the angel wife and mother will always remain the dearest heritage to the mourning husband and sorrowing little ones.
