James Lloyd Cosper
JAMES LLOYD COSPER, was born 3 Apr 1903 near Cloud Chief, Washita Co., OK, in the Indian Territory and died 15 June 1992 at the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, OK. He was 89 years, 2 months and 12 days of age.
Mr Cosper was raised near Eakly and Mt View, OK and at the age of 12 he was baptized at the Missionary Baptist Church in Wister, OK. He attended Brushy School, south of Eakly and graduated from Mt View High School.
After school, he was married to FLORENCE JOSIE YEARWOOD on 30 July 1922. Florence preceded him in death on 3 Apr 1925.
On 30 June 1926, he married MARY HELEN DUNN at Cordell, OK. They made their home in Colony, OK, where Lloyd farmed and did mechanic work for Earl Brown in Colony for a number of years. In 1942, he worked for the Magic Empire Express and the Tulsa World. He also drove the Colony School Bus and the Washita Heights School Bus, when Corn annexed to Colony; he also did mechanic work on them the last few years. He retired from the school system in 1970, after working for them for 30 years. He worked for the Colony Co-Op for 10 years from 1969-1979, when had to retire due ill health. Lloyd continued to reside in Colony, until he entered the Corn Heritage Village on 20 May 1992.
He is survived by his wife, MARY HELEN COSPER, of the home in Colony; three sons, JAMES RICHARD COSPER of Arrey, NM; JIMMY "Buddy" DOYLE COSPER of Odgen, UT and LILBURN LLOYD of Tecumseh, OK; two daughters, ETHELDA LUCILLE LAWLESS of Tulare, CA and VIRGINIA LORRAINE SCOTT of Colony, OK; two brothers, JOE COSPER and GENE COSPER, both from Tulsa, OK; two sisters, IDELLA DUNLAP of Guthrie, OK and ARMINTA OLINGHOUSE of Oklahoma City, OK; host of relatives and friends; 21 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, GEORGE HENRY COSPER and ELIZA L. COSPER, his grandparents; his wife, FLORENCE, daughter, LAQUITA COSPER on 21 Jan 1931 and also by three brothers.
