Shirley Jean Dickerson

Funeral services for Shirley Jean Dickerson were held Thursday, June 26, 2003 in the Second and Adams Church of Christ, officiated by Tom Harguess. Burial followed at Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service, Elk City, Oklahoma.

Shirley was born May 6, 1932 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Irene Lucille and Jewel William Ellis. She passed away June 23, 2003 in the Wise Regional Health System in Decatur, Texas at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 17 days.

Shirley graduated from Dill City High School in 1950. She was married to Earl C. Dickerson at Dill City, Oklahoma on September 14, 1950.

They moved to Abilene, Texas where they owned and operated Earl's Barbeque for a number of years. They later moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where Shirley worked in Bowie's Jewelry Store. They moved to Greeley, Colorado and then to Artesia, New Mexico in 1981. In 1987, they moved to Elk City to make their home.

She was a member of the Second and Adams Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-laws; Jimmy and Keetha Dickerson, of Decatur, Texas, and Kent and Linda Dickerson, of Highland, Illinois; three brothers, Sidney Ellis of Owasso, Oklahoma, Jamie Ellis of Cimarron, Colorado, and Kent Ellis of Waller, Texas; four grandchildren, David, Katie, and Clint Dickerson, and Cara Potter and husband, Justin; and one great grandson, Camden Kyle Potter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
