Doyle Edwin Elliott
Funeral services were held for Doyle Edwin Elliott, age 79, on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission, Texas. Burial followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen, Texas. Pallbearers were his grandsons; Kyle and Jason Walker, Brian and Tim Wright, Jacob Elliott, and Michael Bird.
Doyle was born August 1, 1923 to Richard Dawson Elliott and Eliza Mae Dodgion Eilliott in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He joined his Lord and Savior peacefully Friday, June 20, 2003 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.
He married Pearl on September 1, 1944 and together, lovingly raised seven children.
Doyle was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Underwater Demolition Team, served Mission as volunteer Fire Chief of the Mission Volunteer Fire Department and was owner of Doyle's Electric Service Company of Mission, Texas.
Doyle will live forever in the hearts and minds of all who crossed his path because of his passionate love of life and family, his conviction of his beliefs, and his often gruff, but always loveable and spirited personality.
He is survived by three daughters; Sharon Walker of Mission, Doylene (Greg) Wright-Escue of Houston, Beth (Carl) Bird of Midland; three sons, Rick, Kenny (Rosalinda), and David (Marina) all of Mission; sixteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and sister Katie (Dewie) Miller of Cordell, Oklahoma.
Doyle was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Pearl, in June 2002, daughter-in-law, Nodie in December 2002, and their son, Artie, in November 1996.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston, Texas or The Alzheimer's Association.
