Funeral services for Dennis Darrell Reid, age 59 of Fort Worth, Texas, were held this morning at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Elk City with Rev. Russell Dick officiating.
Reid died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Arlington, Texas. He was born on April 11, 1944 at Exator, Calif., the son of William and Mildred (Gunter) Reid.
He grew up in Western Oklahoma, attending school in Merritt, Berlin and Port before graduating from Port High School in 1962 and attending college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Reid joined the Navy and served in Vietnam, the Philippines and Guam as an air traffic controller.
After his honorable discharge he returned to Oklahoma and married Jan Spitzer on June 28, 1968 at Sayre.
They made their home in Fort Worth, Texas where he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller until 1981.
He continued his education and earned his BS and at the time of his death was working as a loan officer in mortgage liability in Fort Worth.
Preceding him in death was a nephew, Stanley Reid; and a niece, Cheria Nix.
Burial was in the Canute Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Walker and her husband, Jessie, of Elk City; his father, William Darrell Reid and his wife, Suzie, of Elk City; a son, Christopher Sean Reid of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Donna Reinbolt of Topeka, Kans.; a brother, Wayne Reid and his wife and their son, Darlene and Rodney, of Upland, Calif.
