The couple in the picture is
Albert and Anna Thiessen Hoch. He is a half brother of
my grandfather, Arthur Hoch. Albert was b. 29 July 1883 and d. 4 Feb 1920 as the result of a car accident. Anna was born to Dietrich and Susannah Thiessen who lived in Washita and Blaine counties in the early 1900s. After Albert died in 1920, Anna apparently lived with her parents for a time. I found her and her children and the Thiessens together in the 1920 federal census for Seger Twp, but cannot find her after that in any census. I don't know if she remarried or not. They had two children; Viola b. about 1916 and Wesley b. about 1919. She married a man named Henry Littau and I know she was living up until about 1990. Wesley died (unmarried) in a Japanese prison camp in Corrigidor South Pacific during WWII. I have pictures of them as young teens. I am trying to find out what ever happened to Anna, Albert's wife. He is listed as buried in the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery at Corn, but she is not on that cemetery list that I can find. (BTW, he is listed as Albert Hoock but the b. and d. dates are the same as I have for him, so I question the list's spelling of his surname. Hoch is often spelled any number of incorrect ways, even today. Perhaps if this picture is on the gen web site where someone can see it and might know about her, that would help with my mystery. Thank you. Arthur Hoch McPherson, KS |
