Hardeman Brothers -
George, Thomas, and James Photo of the Hardeman Brothers. George Smith Hardeman 1837 - 1906; Thomas Eleazar Hardeman 1839-1928 and James Foster Hardeman 1849-1927. Thomas and James F. Hardeman both came with their families in around 1890 to settle in the Ardmore, Carter Co. area. Both are buried in the Rosehill Cemetery in Ardmore. Thomas Eleazar Hardeman was born in Tennessee 11 July 1839, to James Foster Hardeman and Mary B. Kelly. He married Nancy McCarley in December of 1859 in Red River County Texas. The family moved to The Ardmore area around 1890 where Nancy died in 1891. He operated a hotel by the railroad tracks in Ardmore for a number of years. It was blown up by the rail explosion in 1915 and he just retired not rebuilding. He died in Ardmore on the 3rd of March 1928 and is buried with his wife Nancy in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore.
John and Nancy Jane Hardeman This is a photo of John Leonard Hardeman and his wife Nancy Jane Moore Hardeman. The couple moved to Oklahoma in around 1890 with John's father and mother Thomas Eleazar and Nancy Ann McCarley Hardeman and other family members. John was a cotton farmer and was injured in an accident at a cotton gin. He lost his arm in that accident. John lived most of his life in the Ardmore area.
Bessie Ann and Eva Hardeman
This is a photo of Bessie Ann Hardeman (1900 -
1985) and her sister Eva Hardeman (1890-1978). They are the daughters of
John Leonard Hardeman and his wife Nancy. Eva was born in Denton Co., TX
just months before the family's move to Oklahoma. Bessie was born in
Ardmore. This was probably taken on Bessie's wedding day, 6 Jul 1919, in
Hewitt, Carter County, OK, to Richard James Strait (1895-1969).
