The story of the photo is this as we know it; it was in Great-Grandmother Sallie Louisa Gammill Southern's photo album. There were these names in pencil by the photo, Lizzie Crocker, Josie Couch, & Hester McClain. The were either good friends of Sallie L. Gammill's or her cousins.  As we don't have any of these surnames in our Gammill/Southern lines (as of this dates research) I suspect that they were friends of hers. Sallie and her Mother and siblings lived in and around the Ardmore and Sulphur, OK. areas.

They were related & members of the GAMMILL family. Picture probably made
in Hardin Co, TN? All 3 of these girls are living, very near each other, with their parents,
[1900 census Hardin Co,TN--6th District] Dwelling # 31 CROCKER, # 33 COUCH, # 37 McCLAIN.

Lizzie CROCKER, 1881-1966 Hardin Co, TN--m--Oscar HARMON, 1877-1933 Hardin
Co, TN, son of Pete HARMON & Samantha GAMMILL, dau of Archibald GAMMILL &
Elizabeth LONG, son of James GAMMILL Jr & Hester BEDWELL.

Josie COUCH, --m--Jim DORN, dau of Ezekiel COUCH & Sarah Elizabeth GAMMILL,
dau of Archibald GAMMILL & Elizabeth LONG.

Don't know exactly who Hester McCLAIN is? But most likely a granddaughter of
Hester GAMMILL & Manuel McCLAIN, dau of James GAMMILL Jr & Hester BEDWELL.

All of the above families lived in Hardin Co, TN. Many of their descendants
moved West, mid-late 1800's."
