Below are pictures from the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, McAlester. My grandfather, George Washington Read is third from the left in white shirt. He was born in 1896 in Graybill, TX., Collins Co.  The picture is taken somewhere around 1920.  My father, Earl Read, was born in Brookin, 1917 and he lived in the guard house as a young boy.  My Great-grandfather, James Quinton Porter Read also worked at the prison as night sergeant.  That is when the painting was done by prisoner #1770.  He also worked in McAlester as a policeman and in Leigh.
