J. S. Childress Dies Monday; Rites Pending
John S. Childress, 59, was dead on arrival at Bartlett Memorial Hospital Monday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home in the Pretty Water community.
Childress was born in Arkansas Dec 19, 1911, but had lived in the Sapulpa area almost all his life. He was a farmer-stockman and was retired from the maintenance department of
B-C Glass Co.
Survivors include his widow, Sylvia, of the home; three sons, Dennis, Kansas City Mo.; Franklin, Route 1; Fredrick, 802 N. Hodge; three daughters, Mrs. Wanda Butts, Route 1; Mrs. Peggy Bolin, Route 1; Mrs. Paulette Cooper, 501 E. Line; two brothers,
Ernest Childress, Sapulpa; Harold
Childress, Chula Vista, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Claudie Edwards, Route 1; Mrs. Helen Henderson, 620 N. 1st; Mrs. Dorothy Haney, 614 N. 1st; Mrs. Geneva Armstrong, Carson, Calif; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Owen Funeral Home.
