David E. Cowan, 78, of Mounds, died Friday at the Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Services are to be held at 2 pm Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Mounds with Rev. Dick Knox officiating.

Burial is to follow in the Mounds Cemetery under the direction of Spivey Funeral Home.

Cowan was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a farmer and rancher. He served 24 years on the board of Directors of East Central Oklahoma Electric Co-op and worked 17 years for Pure Oil Company. He is preceded in death by parents Travis and Mattie Cowan.

He is survived by wife Gladys Payne Cowan; daughter Davena Wadley of Gallup, New Mexico; sisters Claire Oldham of Aurora, Mo., Mildred Siever of Claremore and Doris Brown of Pryor; two grandchildren and on great-grandchild.
