Sherman Hockett

Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, 1988, in the Free Will Baptist Church at 2 pm for longtime Drumright resident, Sherman Hockett, after a long illness. He was 78.

Officiating was Rev Larry Eslinger. Music was provided by organist Leota Fincher and vocalist Larita Ledgerwood. Serving as pallbearers were Frank Umberham Jr, Tommy Elsheimer, Horace Zumwalt, Dennis Rickner, Lowell Cooper and Billy Hoggatt.

Sherman Hockett was born January 25, 1910 at West Plains, Missouri. Sherman and his wife Ruby Marie, were united in marriage September 18, 1932, at Drumright. Sherman was retired from the Cities Service.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Marie Hockett of the home; three sons, Gary Hockett, Cushing; Mick Hockett, Agra; and Dale Hockett, Woodward; two sisters, Neoma Umberham, Drumright and Loretta Stumph, Escondido, Calif; two brothers, Gus Hockett, Wenatchee, Wash; and Sumner Hockett, Concrete, Wash; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Three sons and one brother preceded him in death.

Interment was in the Drumright North Cemetery with funeral arrangements under the direction of the Don Smith Funeral Home.
