Jannie Irene Jackson was born Jan. 10, 1921 to the Rev. Jim and Josie
Lawson in Sapulpa. She was the fourth of eight children.
She attended Sunrise and Kellyville schools.
She was a self-taught musician who played the piano, the organ, the accordion,
the mandolin and many other stringed instruments in spite of her visual
limitations. Many joyful hours were spent with family and friends playing
and singing songs.
On Feb. 13, 1941 Jannie married the Rev. James F. Jackson. In November
1941 their daughter, Brenda Kay, was born, and two years later, in October
1943, James Claud, was born to complete their family.
Most of her life was spent serving the Lord. She and her husband pastored
the Evangelistic Tabernacle in Sapulpa. Jannie played the piano and sang
for their church.
She is survived by her husband, James; her daughter, Brenda Carmody and
her husband, David, of Iowa City, Iowa, her son, Jim Jackson, and his
wife, Joyce of Kansas City, Kan.; her grandchildren, Teresa Critz, Jimmy
Don Jackson, David Jackson and Karen Dunaway; her seven great-
grandchildren,
Michael, Connor, Ryan, James, Jackson, Teagan and Logan; her brother,
Kenneth Lawson of Sapulpa; and one sister, Geraldine of Texas.
Jannie was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her
brother, Lester and Bob, and her sisters, Susan, Edith and Wilma.
Jannie spent many years taking loving care of her family. We were always
treated with love and kindness, and her kitchen was always open for a
meal.
She had a special way with people that was a gift from God. She had time
for everyone and made them feel special. If you needed a prayer or a special
word, she knew just what to say in a tender, loving way.
For the past 60 years, James and Jannie had a very special love relationship
that was an inspiration for all those who knew them and witnessed their
love and devotion to one another.
Many of us treasure the memories we hold dear to our hearts for our special
Jannie.
We love her and miss her.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jackson have been set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April
17, 2001, in the Evangelistic Tabernacle with the Rev. Woody Jenkins and

The Rev. James Floyd Jackson, 84, died Tuesday Sept 13, 2005. He was born in
Harrisonville, Ark. May 23, 1921.
He married Jannie Irene Lawson Feb. 13, 1931 and fathered two children;
Brenda Kay Carmody of Iowa City, Iowa and James C. Jackson of Centerview,
MO.
James was the son of Claude Jackson and Nellie Capotaloa Stuart and had
seven brothers and sisters; Milton, Claude, Sadie, Ethyl, Velma, Marie and
Ruth.
Survivors include one sister, Marie Watson and her husband Seyburn, of
Checotah; two children Brenda Kay Carmody and her husband David, of Iowa
City, Iowa, and James C. Jackson and wife Joyce, of Centerview, MO; four
grandchildren Teresa Critz and her husband Brian, of Broken Arrow, Jimmy Don
Jackson and wife Susie, of Broken Arrow, David Allen Jackson, of San Diego,
Calif., and Karen Christine Dunaway and husband David, of Charlotte, N.C.;
eight great-grandchildren Michael Critz, James, Teagan, and Ryan Jackson,
Connor, Logan, McKay and Jackson Dunaway.
James was pastor of the Evangelistic Tabernacle, located on 531 N.
Ridgeway in Sapulpa, until poor health kept him from actively ministering
the church. James was a member of the church since its conception in the
1950s more than five decades ago.
James and his identical twin Milton were Oklahoma oil men and ministers
of the Gospel. They held revivals all over Oklahoma in such places as
Sapulpa, Tulsa, Bristow, Jenks, Bixby, Sand springs, Glenpool, Oklahoma
City, Drumright, Okmulgee and numerous others. They were responsible for
saving the souls of many people which perhaps may have reached into the
thousands.
James was a living testament of the word of God. He once saved the life
of a small boy in his neighborhood. While driving his car he and his
granddaughter Teresa noticed a young boy who was choking to death. He
stopped his car and was able to dislodge the obtrusion, thus saving the
young boy's life. He loved his neighbors and they loved him.
James deeply loved his wife Jannie and after 60 years of marriage God
took her home in 2001. He never overcame the tragedy.
He was known as a kind, gentle, loving man and will be sincerely missed
by all who knew him.
His daughters have never witnessed a man with so much faith in God and never
a man so ready to go to heaven to be with God. During his hard times his
faith never faltered and he never complained. He did once asked during those
last moments, "When am I going to get out of here?"
He is home now. God love him.
Funeral services for James have been set for 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16,
2005 in the Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Millard McGuire officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery near Kellyville.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jimmy Don Jackson, David Allen Jackson,
Michael Critz, Jerry Jackson, Edwin Lay and Joe Reed. Honorary bearers will
be Seyburn Watson, Jimmy Dale Watson, Linda Reed, Evelyn Allen, Ed
Willingham and the Rev. Ted Kelly.
Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
