LAWSON FUNERAL TODAY
Funeral services for former Jenks High School baseball coach L. D. Lawson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Sapulpa. Lawson, 57, died Saturday in Sapulpa, where he owned a nursing home.
Lawson was chosen Tulsa World baseball coach of the year in 1974, when he guided Jenks to the Class 3A state championship with a 30-7 record.
Lawson was selected to the all-state team as a first baseman in 1961.

LAWSON, L. D., of Sapulpa, OK went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2001 after a very courageous battle with cancer.
He was born September 27, 1943 in Ada, OK to Kenneth and Blanche
Lawson. L.D. married Kay Carter Isbell on September 25, 1982. L.D. graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1961 and from Northeastern State University with an undergraduate degree in Political Science in 1966 and a Master's degree in Counseling in 1972. He was Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Football Coach at Cascia Hall during 1967-1973, also serving as Assistant Headmaster 1970-1973. In 1973
L.D. joined the coaching staff of Jenks School District as Head Baseball Coach, Assistant Football Coach and Assistant Principal and remained in those positions until 1983.
L.D. was awarded Coach of the Year in 1973. At the time of his death he was Administrator of Ranch Terrace Nursing Home, Sapulpa, OK, owned by the
Lawson's. L.D. was a member of Oaks Country Club, Board of Directors of Sapulpa Public Schools Education Foundation and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter, Jennifer Lawson Kelsey, her husband, Scott and children, Trevor, Regan and
Mckenna, Sapulpa; stepson, Randy Isbell, his wife, Sherri and children Payton and Ali, Sapulpa; stepson, Chad Isbell, his wife, Crystal and children, Justin and
Kaylin, Sapulpa; parents Kenneth and Blanche Lawson, Sapulpa; sister and family, Linda Gail Lawson and Dallas Unger, Westville, OK and their children, Michelle Unger
Cundy, Danielle Unger Secrest and Lance Unger; other family and extended family of friends who loved him as their own.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2001, 2 pm at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Sapulpa.
Interment at Sunrise Cemetery, Kellyville, OK.
Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Building Fund, American Cancer Society or St. Francis Hospice. Smith
