Wilma Lawson dies at home

Wilma Jean Lawson, 23 year old Shawnee woman, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday in her home after an illness of several months. Nature of the illness was not reported.

Wilma Jean was born in Sapulpa and came to Shawnee in 1942. She graduated from Shawnee high school in 1946 and attended Neff's Business college.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lawson of the residence, which is 3/4 mile north of the MacArthur-state 18 intersection; three brothers, Lester of Baton Rouge, La., Kenneth of Sapulpa, and Bobby of the residence; three sisters, Mrs. Edith McGuire, Kellyville, Okla; Mrs. Janie Jackson, Sapulpa, and Geraldine Lawson, of the home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gaskills.


Wilma Jean Lawson, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Lawson, born September 20, 1927 in Sapulpa, OK departed this life June 1, 1951 at the age of 23 years 8 months and 12 days. 

She leaves to mourn her death her father and mother, three brothers, Lester of Baton Rouge, La., Kenneth of Sapulpa, and Bobby of the home address and three sisters, Mrs. Edith McGuire of Kellyville, Mrs. Jannie Jackson of Sapulpa and Geraldine of the home address. Seven nephews, six nieces and a host of relatives and friends.

Burial will be at Sunrise Cemetery Kellyville, OK June 4, 1951 under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Chapel, Shawnee, OK.
