J. W. "Bud" Sherwood, 73, of Sapulpa, died Wednesday at St. John Medical Center.

Services are to be held Saturday at 11 am in the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Nelson officiating.

Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Sherwood was born Feb 25, 1920 in Sapulpa. He was the retired owner of Sherwood Machine Shop which he founded in 1945. He graduated from Sapulpa High School, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a former Sapulpa City Commissioner, member of the Sapulpa Elks Lodge, Sapulpa Masonic Lodge 170, 32 degree mason, Scottish Rite, Akdar Shrine, member and past director of the Royal Order of Jesters No. 47.

He was also a board member of Security National Bank, National Federation of American Businessmen, Tulsa Manufacturing Club, and a past member of Bartlett Memorial Hospital Board.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Sherwood, sons Joe Sherwood Jr. of Grove and Charley Sherwood of Springfield, MO; brother John Sherwood of Sapulpa; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Joe W. Sherwood Sr. were to be held at 11 am Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. John Nelson officiating.

Interment was to follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Serving as casket bearers were Joe W. Sherwood Jr., Charley Sherwood, Joe Ryan Sherwood, Cale Sherwood, Bryan Sherwood and Eric Sherwood.

Honorary bearers were Lou Stuart, Frank Gierhar, Dr. John Carletti, Jerry Naifeh, Ted Fisher, Dwight Maulding and members of the Royal Order of Jesters Court #47.
