Updated: 06 Sep 2009 [newspaper unknown] Mrs. Stone dies Friday Funeral was scheduled for 2 pm today for Annie Cupp (Mrs. A. H.) Stone at the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary. Mrs. Stone, 89, died at 6:15 pm Friday at Care Inn where she had been a patient 9 1/2 years. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Maryville for almost 72 years, having more membership longevity than all but two or three of its living members. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. H. Stone, on March 25, 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Stone owned and operated Stone's Grocery on Sevierville Road for many years. Survivors include: son, Dean Stone, editor of The Daily Times; daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Henry) Hunt of Richmond, VA, a former dietitian at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, Barbara (Mrs. Jerry) Purviance of Knoxville, secretary at the City of Maryville; grandson, Neal Stone of Maryville. She was the last surviving child of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Cupp of Maryville who had eight sons and three daughters who lived to reach adulthood and establish families of their own. Cupp founded the store which she operated after her parents' death and which she and her husband later operated for nearly half a century. Officiating at the funeral were Dr. Nobel Brown and the Rev.
