TULSA – Garland E. Tharp, 78, of Tulsa, died Sunday at Fin and Feather Resort.
Services were held today at Whisenhunt Chapel, Tulsa.
Burial followed at Floral Haven Cemetery under the direction of Tulsa Whisenhunt
Funeral Services.
Mr. Tharp was a former resident of Yale and graduated from Yale High School. He
was a 1936 graduate of Oklahoma A&M College.
He opened Tharp’s Modern Dairy in the early 1940s. He also established the
Miami Good Dairy in 1946, which was later purchased by Meadow Gold Dairy. Mr.
Tharp retired from Meadow Gold in 1975.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Zola Grigor Tharp, and his youngest
son, Wayne E. Tharp.
Survivors include wife Irene Tharp; son Larry A. Tharp of Gore; sisters Bernice
J. Tharp and Nina Steinburg, both of Sapulpa; brother Warren
Tharp of Sapulpa;
two step-children; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
