WARREN THARP Warren J. Tharp of 1017 Hobson, Sapulpa, died Thursday. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Saturday at Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Don Price officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. He will lie in state until 9 am Saturday. The casket will not be open at the service. He was born Sep 22, 1906, in Yale to Jess and Lena Lenore Marble Tharp. Tharp married Vernice M. Baldwin on March 22, 1939. After graduating from Yale High School he attended the Colorado Chiropractic University in Denver. Upon graduation in 1928, he practiced in Leadville and Denver, Colo., and Raleigh, N.C., until 1939. After working four years in a saddle shop, Tharp moved his family to Sapulpa in 1943 to operate the Tharp Creamery with his two brothers, Garland and Fred. In 1948 he opened and operated the Big Dipper Ice Cream Parlor and Drive In at Dewey and Maple. In 1958 he had a Studebaker Lark Car agency at the same agency. In 1962 he changed to Tharp Automatic Transmission Shop until he retired in 1971. Survivors include his wife, Vernice; daughters, Carol Ann Wiginton and Sharon Kay Johnston; son, Donald Warren Tharp; sisters, Bernice Jewel Tharp and Nina Tharp Sternburg; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Douglas Wilmott, Randy Garrett, Eddie VanDolah, Todd and Curt Johnston, and Fred Tharp. WARREN THARP Funeral services for Warren J.
